I generally edit posts on my PC. Occasionally, however, I use my Samsung Galaxy Tab 6 Android tablet.
This has always worked very well. Recently, however, perhaps in the last one to two months, I have tried to do this and experienced a problem.
I can log in to my site view my Page Builder material in draft and preview the content. When I go to edit any text, however, the on-screen keyboard flashes up for a second and then drops down. As a result I am unable to type any changes or interact via the keyboard in any way.
I am not experiencing this on any other App on this device. Restarting the device and clearing the browser cache appear to have no effect. I have experienced the same issue whether using MS Edge or Google Chrome.
Do you have any idea why this is happening and how I can correct it?
Hi Curmudgeon,
Thanks for getting in touch. I’m sorry you’re having trouble using Page Builder on your device. I’ve run a few tests using a slightly newer Samsung tablet, and it appears to be working as expected. I tested using the SiteOrigin Editor widget, and a SiteOrigin Headline widget (specifically, the regular text fields). Does this happen with all widgets, or is it only for a specific widget type? If it’s only for a specific widget type, can you please provide me with a screenshot of what you see after the issue occurs? We don’t currently support attachments so you’ll need to upload your screenshot to a third-party image hosting service like Imgur and reply with a link.
It’s possible you might have encountered a plugin conflict. Please, try establishing a working baseline. Temporarily deactivate all plugins except for plugins authored by SiteOrigin. Does the issue persist with only SiteOrigin plugins activated?
If the issue persists with only SiteOrigin plugins activated, temporarily switch to a default theme like Twenty Nineteen.
The conflict test has failed if you can’t find a working baseline. If you can find a working baseline, reactivate your theme if you got that far and your plugins individually. After each activation, check for the issue and note when it reoccurs.
Kind regards,
Alex
Hi Alex
Thanks for responding.
I have tested a selection of different site origin widgets and the behaviour is the same in each.
I have tried deactivating all plug-ins at a Network level and the issue persists.
When I create a new post there are two options. I am not sure of the underlying distinction between them, although the Block Editor looks very different and doesn’t have all the fields I am used to.
I always select the option “Site Origin Page Builder” and then add a title and widgets as necessary. I have found that if I select the option “Block Editor” and then add the SiteOrigin Editor widget the text entry behaves normally. This is a link to a couple of very short video captures that show the different behaviours.

I hope you will be able to access them but let me know if you can’t.
Obviously, using the Block Editor option might be a work around when using the tablet but doesn’t help with editing posts created originally with SiteOrigin Page Builder. Up until a month or so ago it all worked seamlessly.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Hi Curmudgeon,
Sorry for the delay.
Thank you for the video, and for the additional information. It appears something is preventing you from typing in fields in the Classic Editor, as the Title field is a standard WordPress field. So this may be more of a general WordPress compatibility issue with your specific tablet. Does this issue occur if you disable all of our plugins, and install the Classic Editor plugin? (this will enforce the Classic Editor and allow the editors to appear the same)
This isn’t a solution, but it should allow us to move closer to one if we can confirm the overall scope of the issue.
Kind regards,
Alex
Hi, Alex
I have a second site which is now disused. I set this up and had the same issue.
I have deactivated all the SiteOrigin Widgets and any other plugins possible then reverted to a standard theme (twenty-nineteen) and the classic editor.
The issue went away.
I slowly added things back in until we were back at the beginning, testing along the way. The behaviour never reappeared with either site and I have now been checking it for a few days and it is still OK.
I have no idea what actually caused / fixed the problem, specifically and fear its return at any time but for now I don’t think there is anything else we can do. Thanks very much for your help.
Hi Curmudgeon,
It’s great to hear it’s no longer happening on the site you ran the plugin conflict test. If it’s still happening on the initial site, I recommend running the plugin conflict test again but this time, check if this issue occurs after disabling each plugin. This should hopefully allow you to spot the plugin causing this issue.
Kind regards,
Alex
