Table spacing/padding not working with block editor

I am using wordpress block editor, added a SiteOrigin layout block, used an Accordion widget within that, and added tables in the accordion. Please see http://tianxu.co.uk/about-test/

Problem: block editor ignores all table spacing/padding attributes, and ignores empty rows. I cannot create spacing between cells, cannot create a gaps between rows. Columns are automatically brought against each other, touching each other, I have to add lots of spaces to push a column back. Each table requires every column to be aligned manually.

Surely there is a solution to something this simple, but I’ve researched online and really can’t find a solution, it seems that the new block editor is causing more problems than it has solved. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
