Table Borders

I have inserted 2 tables into the Gig Guide page and the owner wishes them to have a border.
I have looked on the forum and placed the following css custom code but it gives me borders around the cells too which I do not want.

.entry-content table td {
border: 1px solid #ededed;
padding: 0.5em;
}

Should I be doing this in the html area perhaps.
