Switching Home Page to different languages

10 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 10 years ago

i’m having trouble getting my front page to show using polylang.
Right now, I have two different home pages one for English and one for Chinese.
The English homepage is the default and will show fine. When a user whose operating system is Chinese or they use the drop down menu from the top right to change the language, it doesn’t show the Chinese version homepage, but just a list of recent articles that I have in Chinese.
Is there a way I can change the theme to automatically show the Chinese home page I already created? Also, I would like to use a separate metaslider for the Chinese homepage as well
Thank you for any suggestions!

    Hi Nick

    Thanks for reaching out.

The challenge is that you don’t have a static home page set for your site. Go to Settings > Reading and set a static home page. Right now that’s set to display posts which is why the Chinese home page displays posts. This is a Polylang specific challenge so not really our area of focus. Hopefully the above idea helps.

You should be able to set a different page slider for the Chinese home page by editing the page and selecting a slider from the Page Slider drop down menu in the right column.

Sweet! Thank you so much! The issue was actually the Home Page and the translated home page weren’t properly associated, so it wasn’t calling any Chinese home page.
I also got the Meta Slider to call the correct slider based on language as well. =)
