Hi there,
I set up a features widget and running into a few problems:
1. After creating the features widget and hitting update, it looks fine. But then I go to change some other rows (unrelated but on the same page) and when I hit update the SiteOrigin features widget doest show up. but instead it gives this long error ({"font":"default"). Then when I look in the page builder, it changed the entire widget to the button widget and nothing can be seen on the preview. I am using WP Bakery and reproduced this a few times.
2. Even when I did get the widgit to work (before making any other site changes), it looked wonky on mobile. Titles ran into each other and overlapped. I do not want to use responsive because it leads to too much scrolling.
Thanks for any help.
Hi, thanks for reaching out.
1. Is there a Text widget on the page? I ask because this issue is open at the moment and has proven difficult to resolve: https://github.com/siteorigin/so-widgets-bundle/issues/772.
2. If you can send a link, I’ll take a look at the page and help resolve this but ideally, let’s get item 1 fixed first.
Hi Andrew, yes there are a few text widgets on the page. May I send the site to you privately somewhere? I don’t want the site public just yet.
Thanks for your response and help!
Thanks for the quick reply. Alex isn’t online right now but I need to ask him what a Text element might be replaced with to resolve this problem. Let me test locally and try to find a workaround.
As a test, could you try changing the Text elements as shown in my image?
Hi Andrew,
I am currently using the text block on the right. I don’t believe I am using the text box on the left.
That’s it. The issue you’ve described is documented here: https://github.com/siteorigin/so-widgets-bundle/issues/772 and unfortunately proven difficult to resolve. Might it be possible, on this page, to try using the element on the left as a replacement and see if serves the same needs and if it solves the issue, item 1. if your support topic.
Okay I mispoke completely (and in the worst way lol). I am using the one on the left and not using the one on the right! Sorry, dunno where my head is at!
My mistake, sorry, they both cause the same problem. I’ll chat with the team and come back to you. For right, is there a similar WPBakery element to the Features widget? I’m busy checking…
I’ll try to come back to you tomorrow or on Monday with an idea of when this might be resolved. For the moment, the issue doesn’t persist if you edit and save the page in the front end WPBaker editor. But, if you save the page in the back end editor, the SiteOrigin Widget falls over. So the workaround is possible but fragile.
Hi, thanks for the wait. Unfortunately, it looks like we’re not going to be able to resolve this issue. The challenge is, unfortunately, quite complex. The time required is currently more than we’re able to deploy on this integration. I really wish I had better news. I did all I could to get this resolved. Really sorry for the hassle, I hope you can find another element to achieve this task.
Hey Andrew,
Sorry was out of the office for a bit. If I cant use a text box for the features, can I use something else? Or the whole thing doesn’t work at all? All I need are those feature icons on the website, doesnt have to be inserted into a text box if there is another way.
The summary of the challenge is that once any text element is inserted into the page, it will break the SiteOrigin Widget. You can use the SiteOrigin Features widget but if any text element is inserted into the page, the SiteOrigin widget will break. I tried the following:
Text Block
WP Text
Raw HTML
SiteOrigin Editor
Any of the above on the same page as a SiteOrigin widget will cause the SiteOrigin widget to reset.
