Static home page doesn’t set

Hi,

I am using Vantage theme and I used to have my home page set to a Static page. Today I found out it had changed to blog excerpts, without any change made by myself. The problem is that every time I try to set it to the specific static page again, it seems to save the change but no real change happen. I make this change again and save, again and save, but it doesn’t work. The theme is ignoring this change. Even having purged the cache. I have tried it on “Customize > Static Front Page”, on “Settings > Reading” and on the Home Page Vantage’s theme tab. It doesn’t work. How can I know what happened and how to fix it?

    Hi Joan,

Is your Custom Home Page enabled? You can check this by navigating to WP AdminAppearanceHome Page and ensure its set to on. If it’s not, by saving the home page you’ll end up disabling the home page.

    Hi Alex,

sorry for being delayed in answering. I tried to do what you suggest, but it didn’t work. The button is set to “OFF”. I turn it to “ON” but when I save it, it turns automatically to “OFF” again, without changing the home page. This, every time I try it.

Do you know what should I do?

    Hi Joan,

That’s odd. What happens if you navigate to WP AdminSettingsReading and set the Front page displays setting to Your latest posts – are you able to toggle it now? If not, please revert the Front page displays setting to what it was previously.

    Hi,

I can’t toggle it either on Home Page section after setting this. Moreover, on Settings > Reading section none of the two options (latest post or static page) appears with the radio button marked. When I mark one of these, after saving changes, both appear unmarked again (even cleaning cache, as it suggests). And fields for “Home page” and “Posts page” appear in grey, as if writing wouldn’t be possible. After marking “static page” radio button, I can select what page I want for Home as well as for Posts. But, again, after saving, changes are not made.

    Thanks

    Hi Joan,

Hm. That’s odd. Would you mind running a quick plugin conflict test? I just want to ensure no other plugin is running a nonce check Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

    Hi again,

I made that test and I found out that the origin of this problem is on WordPress Multilingual String Translation plugin. It is the one that makes the disfunction appear when activated. I sent a ticket to them, and I am waiting for their answer.

    Thanks! :)
