Why do I get these tags when I do not want them I would try to change them to a plain tag or maybe even a just wants to go back to this

To be honest, I’m not too sure I understand your issue. I suspect you’re trying to apply inline styling to a span. Is this the case? Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at your markup? This will allow me to see why the color CSS might not be coming though.
