So Google Maps widget won’t show as interactive

Hi, first of all thanks a lot for all your great work. I love using Page Builder and some of your widgets!
But I’m trying to set Google Maps widget on a site I’m developing. The map will display when set to static but not when set to interactive. But as I need the map to be bigger than the 640px limit I need it to be interactive.

– I’ve read other threads (like https://siteorigin.com/thread/google-maps-widget-not-working-even-with-api-key/) and as suggested: de-activated all other plugins (except page builder), changed theme, cleared cache,… with no success.

– As the page I originally used SOGMW on had been previously set with another Google map plugin (Google Maps Widget) I also tried to add your SOGMW on a test page (http://www.willowkangaroopoint.olivierlegoff.com.au/test/). No success.

– I’ve also tried regenerating the API key: no success (the API worked with the other plugin but this plugin only use static map)

I’ve checked the output code and the API showing is the right one.

Any ideas to solve this?

Thanks
Cheers
Olivier

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Olivier,

Please ensure that you’ve enabled the Google Maps Static Map API. This API isn’t automatically enabled by default and must be enabled if you wish to make use of this API with your key.

If that doesn’t work, could you please view the page and could you please send me the contents of your browser’s console? Please refer to this guide (https://www.wickedlysmart.com/hfjsconsole/) on how to access your browser console.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Olivier,

Oh, sorry! I meant the Maps JavaScript API.

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for your prompt reply.
I din't have the Maps JS API enabled. It has now been enabled so I have enabled:
    – Google Maps Embed API
    – Google Maps JavaScript API
    – Google Static Maps API
Do I need to enabled anything else?

Also this is the Console's content: (not sure if the code is well copied so I've attached a snapshot as well)

    js?v=3.exp&callback=soGoogleMapInitialize&key=AIzaSyDF9QodZu1o4mU2LT8rx30DXSzSpH3rg_4:37
This API project is not authorized to use this API. Please ensure this API is activated in the Google Developers Console:
    https://console.developers.google.com/apis/api/geocoding_backend?project=_ For more information on authentication and Google Maps Javascript API services please see: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key_.hb @ js?v=3.exp&callback=soGoogleMapInitialize&key=AIzaSyDF9QodZu1o4mU2LT8rx30DXSzSpH3rg_4:37(anonymous function) @ geocoder.js:3(anonymous function) @ common.js:52(anonymous function) @ common.js:26(anonymous function) @ common.js:52c @ common.js:45(anonymous function) @ GeocodeService.Search?4s53 Princess St%2C Kangaroo Point QLD 4169&7sUS&9sen-US&key=AIzaSyDF9QodZu1o…:1

Looks like I need more authorization. How do I do this?
So far I've enabled the 3 APIs, created a new Browser Key in the Credentials accepting requests from *.willowkangaroopoint.olivierlegoff.com.au/* as well as willowkangaroopoint.olivierlegoff.com.au/*

This is the first time I've used the Google API so I'm not sure what else needs to be done.

    CAn you please help.

    Thanks again.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Olivier,

The error code suggests that you need to enable the Google Maps GeoCoding API. Annoyingly the link I sent you should have done that – but for whatever reason, it didn’t. :(

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for your help.
I tried and clicked again the link you sent me. Went through the same process until it told me that I didn't need a new API as I already had an API which would work (the one I've been using). Then when I looked again at the google dashboard a different bunch of APIs were showing !
    It's now perfectly working !
    Go figure…

    Thanks a lot anyway.
    Have a great day
