Hi, I have been using the Vantage theme since 2016 but recently I had to update Smart Slider 2 to Smart Slider 3 to be able to upgrade from PHP 7.4 to 8.1 (Smart Slider 2 is not compatible with PHP 8.1)

I disabled Smart Slider 2 and activated Smart Slider 3 and rebuilt the slider from scratch but still, the slider doesn’t show on the homepage or even the inside pages. i followed the steps on the documentation below carefully but still, nothing is showing.

To display your slider on the home page, go to Appearance/Customize/Theme Design/Home and select your new slider from the drop-down list. Alternatively, go to PagesHome Page and locate the Page Slider meta box in the right column, you can also select your page slider there.

Can you please help?
Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi, thanks for getting in touch.

Try going to Pages and locating your home page in the Pages list. Edit your home page and check the right column for the Page Slider settings meta box. Is your slider selected?

    Hi Andrew,

Ya, the slider is selected on the homepage from the right side meta box and from the main theme settings (Customize ▸ Theme Settings
    ▸ Home).

    Both locations are selected.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for checking. Is Smart Slider 2 still installed in your Plugins list?

It is installed but deactivated. I can’t activate it anymore because I already updated the PHP version to 8.1, If I activate it again it will corrupt the entire website because it is not compatible anymore. (this is why I’m trying to work with the Smart Slider 3).

    Hi, I Work Here

It’s worth trying to delete Smart Slider 2 to see if that resolves the issue. The shortcode being output is the SS2 shortcode, that’s the issue.

Deleted the Smart Slider 2 but still same issue.

    Hi, I Work Here

From PagesHome, try setting the slider to None, saving, and then selecting your slider and saving.

Hi Andrew, after a lot of testing I found that the problem was the child theme, when I activated the main theme the slider showed up on the homepage. I deleted the child theme and reinstalled it again and the problem is solved now.

    Thank you.
