Slte Origin Slider takes to long to load the first image

I have 5 images of 1920×1280 in this slide in the home page:

http://armazem-virtual.com/siteorigin

The first image takes too long to load but the remaining ones upload in an accepted speed.
The first image has 1,016 KB. They are all .jpeg’s.
I already changed the settings to under Controls to read Animation speed 100 and left Timeout default at 8000. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Veruska,

Okay so it’s not that the other images load instantly – they don’t. What’s going on is we’re preloading all of the images prior to displaying them – how fast this happens is dependent on both the client and hosting provider connection speed. This normally is the commonly accepted method of doing things and it works really well for the most part. The times when it doesn’t is when there are a bunch of extremely large images which is where you’re going wrong. Your front page has a total of 6MB of images. That is absolutely huge.

If you want to resolve this issue, you’re going to have to compress the images. This isn’t something I can help you with sadly. :(

Thank you, Alex. Actually you helped me indeed because I didn’t realize that they were that big.
When I purchased the images they were about 3-4 MB and all I did was to reduce the dimensions using Canva.com <http://canva.com/> and thought it would be enough. I will use Graphic Converter to make them smaler. What is your recommendation in terms of KB?

Problem solved, Alex. Thank you very much for your usual quick response.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Veruska,

Sorry for the delay. While you’ve stated you’ve solved the problem I’m still going to make a recommendation i nterms of file size.

I would recommend the following size limits for images:

    • Core image 750KB
    • Medium important: 250KB
    • Small important: 125KB
    • All others: < 75KB

These suggested file size limits are by no means extensive and are obviously quite vague. It’s up to you to decide the importance of an image. It should also be noted that an important image doesn’t necessarily need to be a large one.
