Slider sizes – slider is resizing slides in a strange way

Hi, thanks for all the help so far.

I am trying to add a slider to my pages, but I am struggling with sizes and positions. I need the slider to be 250px high, 100% wide. So if I make the image 1080 wide (as recommended), its stretching the image across the screen (predictable, yes). So I have made the images 2000px wide, and tried fiddling with settings to get something that will stretch across the screen (ideally it would probably be good to rather just have a background colour and then the image), but it then shorten the height in order to fit the entire slide 100%. Ive been trying all kinds of combinations of settings to get it to display the slide as centred, 250px wide, with excess cropped off the sides…

My settings currently are:
Width 2000px
Height 250px

Theme Vantage (Flex)

Stretch 100% wide output
Center align yes
Auto play yes
Image Crop disabled

Crop position under crop is top centre

    Hi Chantal,

    I’m very sorry for late reply. I’ve taken a look at the reference thread and don’t seem to see the issue described – the slide is stretching as expected. Because it’s been a while since you posted this, would you mind letting us know if you still need help? If so, we’ll jump right in.

    Hi there.

    Thank you for getting back to me.

    I don’t think I described my problem properly. Essentially, I need something that maintains a height of 250 px. So it needs a fixed height. The slide needs to be 100% – is it possible to create a slide which is very wide, so that the excess on the side crops off on smaller screens, but it appears to stretch in large screens?

    Hi Chantal,

    Okay so for this you might be better off asking Meta Slider for help with, but I’ll try to help regardless.

    Please navigate to your slider settings and open the advanced tab. Set the cropping to smart padding and then ensure the height of the slider aligns with the desired height of 250px. Then hit save. If this doesn’t looks exactly right you may have to add the following CSS to WP AdminAppearanceCustom CSS

    .slide-143 {
        height: 250px;
    }

    Thanks so much – I seem to have it under control now

    Thank you for your patience
