siteorigin widgets plugins trouble with website backup

11 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 11 years ago

Hello Greg and Andrew ,

I’m using your VANTAGE theme with the cool pagebuilder-plugin (updated to latest version). Really great work!
While building the homepage on the life-server, everything’s fine.

I am using another great software called DESKTOPSERVER on my local laptop to mirror my sites and to have them offline for testing and back-up. This usually works perfect with other themes!

…except in this special case where I am using your theme and plugins. Following issues appear:

widgets:
– no widgets in sidebar, footer, header anymore
– so-feature widgets content is gone
– list (pb) widget not working
– so-post-carousel widget not working
– post-loop widget not working …etc.

pagebuilder:
looks like pb lost all information. When editing an existing page in admin-mode and change text-mode to pb-mode with clicking on “Page Builder” receiving the message: “Would you like to copy this editor’s existing content to Page Builder?”

– all the widgets exist in wp-content, they are in their expected folders ../plugins/… and so-widgets-bundle/…
– when placing a the s-o-feature widget in footer, I can’t click the “add”-button

– PlugIn dis- and enabling does no effect.

It looks like database issue to me, but I wonder why? Everything else is working perfect as expected. Any helping idea to bug-fix would be warmly appreciated?

Greetings from cold Germany

    Hi Lufuchs

Thanks for getting in touch, we appreciate the support.

It’s unfortunately been a long standing issue, Page Builder content doesn’t seem to migrate unless done using the Duplicator plugin or the much slower method of exporting content via Tools > Export. That’s the summary. I go over this in more length here:

Thread: I’d like to move my website that’s using Page Builder, what’s the best method?

I wish I had more to offer. For now, the above two methods are the only two we know of that works. We’ll definitely be taking another look at the problem as the year progresses and we have development time.

    Hi Andrew,
    thank you for feedback.
    :-(
Looking forward for future updates… in the meantime I will ckeck the Duplicator-way.
BTW: Wouldn’t it be a good idea to mention this somewhre in the documentation?

    Greetings

Thanks for your understanding here. We’ll do our best to resolve this moving forward. Hope Duplicator does the trick. We try cover this topic here: https://siteorigin.com/page-builder/exporting-content/, but for sure, it could be more prominent, I’ll make that suggestion on our side.
