Deactivating SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle reduces carousel selectors under main slide show to 4 which is as it should be, but so doing makes all content the below main slide show disappear. Reactivating SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle doubles carousel selectors back to 8 and all missing content below main slide show reappears. Deactivating each widget in the Bundle one at a time has no effect.
Hi William
Thanks for reaching out. Are you still working through this problem? I’m not seeing duplicate navigation items at the moment, did you perhaps find a solution?
Hello Andrew
Yes, an alternative solution was found. ThemeGrill slider was deactivated and then recreated using SiteOrigin slider widget. The trade-off was losing ThemeGrill slider text overlays and link buttons while gaining a slider that performs as expected. I will add text overlays and link buttons to each slider image by making them part of the actual image.
Thanks!
Super, glad to hear you’ve made progress.
You could use the SiteOrigin Hero widget which has slides like the slider and does allow text and buttons.
Page: Hero
I gave Hero a look but it does not appear to support text panels, that is, blocks or rectangles behind text that can be set to various opacities which permit the underlying image to remain visible while both framing text and providing a contrasting background for it:
The native ThemeGrill slider provided responsive resizing of that text and that was a plus which is to say laying on static text over an image will be a bit problematic, striking a balance between what’s legible for both mobile and desktop, however given that any such text will have to be input manually anyway no matter what widget displays it, the amount of time to do either seems the same.
Glad to hear you took a look. Sorry the Hero can’t assist with this challenge.
Andrew,
This may not be the proper forum to ask, that is, as part of this particular thread and if it isn’t I will start a new thread but given that my question is a continuation of the original problem…. well, you tell me.
What I’d like to know is if there is a way to force SiteOrigin’s Slider Widget to display images at full resolution / size? My Media Gallery clearly indicates the images in the current Slider are all 1280 × 700 which matches the dimensions of the original uploads, however they display at 768 x 420 which conveniently enough is precisely 60% of the original file size. This appears to be an auto resize, controlled by either the widget itself or somewhere in a CSS. Would you know where to start looking?
I’m asking because when viewed on my desktop computer, text which has been added to the original image file is unnecessarily blurry / pixelated because the smaller file, 768 x 420, has been expanded to display @ 1218 x 663 or thereabouts.
Help!
Thanks
No problem. As a test, does the problem change/resolve if you go to JetpackSettings, search for Photon and disable the module that appears. “Serve images from our global CDN”. If you disable that, any changes?
That solved the problem Andrew. Nothing worse than having home page problems get in the way of development. Now I can move forward with the site. Thanks so much for your help!
Super :) Glad to hear that did the trick. All the best!
