SiteOrigin Slider Widget problem

Hi,

I’m new to WordPress and SiteOrigin, and using Mamp to try out my website on a Mac before uploading the page to the web server.
I’m trying to use Slider widget to show multiple images as a slider object on the page, but having problems to get it work properly.

The problem is that when opening or refreshing the page, the slider area becomes only a thin horizontal line (and the size of the widget field shrinks vertically correspondingly). But when changing the browser window size, the whole slider area becomes visible and works as supposed (showing all the images as supposed and the interface buttons work as supposed). Again, if refreshing the page, the slider area becomes a thin line.

I’ve tried emptying caches, I’ve tries disabling all other widgets, but still the problem remains.

Any idea why?

The versions of Mamp, SiteOrigin and WordPress should be the latest.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Lastala,

What your experiencing suggests the slider isn’t able to initiate correctly. This is quite a common sign of a plugin/theme conflict. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Alex,

    thousand thanks for your reply!

I already tried disabling all other plugins and also tried the default theme “Twentyseventeen”, but those things didn’t solve the problem. However, I installed a plugin called “Smart Slider 3”, and suddenly my problem with “”SiteOrigin Slider widget”” was gone. Strange!?

Anyway, I got the slider working well with the “Smart Slider 3”, so I’m using it at the moment. However, I would be interested if you have a fix for the initial problem.

    Thanks again!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Lastala,

I’m not too sure why that helped – it shouldn’t have. Hm. Do you have a caching plugin or anything like that?

Unfortunately, there’s really no way for us to know why this is happening without inspecting the issue itself.

No, I don’t have a caching plugin, not that I know of.

Yes, I understand that it’s impossible to analyse the issue, when the website is not even on the web, yet. Sorry.

I’ll get back if I find something that might make a difference.

    Thanks.
