SiteOrigin Slider Widget

Hello, I’m using the siteorigin page builder along with the widgets bundle, and I was wondering if and how it would be possible to add text onto the slider? Also, might just be internet speed related, but the side bar when customising individual widgets appears to be stuck on a loading screen?

Thanks.

    Hi Sophybeechweb,

Adding text to the slider widget isn’t really an easy task. I would highly recommend switching those widgets to the SiteOrigin Hero widget (which is a part of the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle) as you’ll be able to put anything in a slide – even more images.

Alright great, and how about the slowness of the loading in the side panel, I tried de-activating plugins, and it still didn’t load.

    Hi Sophybeechweb,

That’s a tricky question actually. Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for me so I can log in and take a look? Please mark your reply as private so the login details aren’t publicly posted.

Just navigate to UsersAdd New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the Send Password field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Sophybeechweb,

I’ve taken a look at the issue you’ve described and it looks like there’s an error with something failing to load – not too sure what. However, I’m not sure what plugin is at fault. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin. If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

Also, you can delete the account you created for me.

    Hi Alex,

I de-activated the plugins, no change, and I also changed the theme to a normal wordpress theme, also no change, any ideas?

    Hi Sophybeechweb,

That’s tricky. Admitally I didn’t notice any real performance decrease and the customizer was working fine for me – I just suspected something might be up after seeing the error. I’ll try and come up with a fix but at this point I can’t really promise anything – it might just be your internet. :( To fix this, you should consider hosting closer to home. For instance, as I’m in Australia if I connect to an American hosted website there’s always a slight delay added on each connection due to the distance this is due to physics and there’s very little that can be done (besides more direct cables – I’m not even joking). If you can reduce this latency you might be able to use this customizer without issue even on the slowest of connections (by modern standards of course).

It shouldn’t be the internet connection though, as the main customiser part works, it’s just the side bar that’s stuck on loading, our hosting couldn’t be any closer to us either haha, and the internet here is absolutely fine anyway, so not sure.

    Hi Sophybeechweb,

Oh, it’s the actual customizer part? That typically only happens when it’s a plugin or theme issue but as you’ve done tested this and had results that suggested that wasn’t the problem I’m honestly not too sure what’s causing the issue at this point. I’ll try and come up with a solution but honestly, at this point, I’m drawing a blank.

It’s no worries, I think it something must’ve just gone wrong during the editing, who knows, it works really well for this current website I’m working on however, so it’s fine.
