Hi!
I have an issue with a page of my blog, the SiteOrigin plugins seem to load only once. Whenever I make a change on the page, the plugins work when I refresh the page, but only once. As soon as refresh the page again the slider doesn’t load, and whatever else is a SiteOrigin plugin neither. Would anyone have an idea how to solve this? It isn’t a conflict with another plugin..
Thanks a lot!!
S.
Hi Sarahc,
Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.
This is a private message.
Hi Sarahc,
Just had a look at your website and it looks like you’re using Crelly Slider which is a third party plugin. Now, I honestly don’t know the first thing about that plugin. While I can help you (albeit slowly as I’m not familiar with this plugin), you would be better off contacting the plugin developers, and asking for support from them. Would you still like my help with this issue? And if not, is there anything else I can help you with today?
Hi Alex, I’m only using siteorigin plugins on the page, have a look :)
Hi Sarahc,
If that’s the case could you please try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related as I see a non SiteOrigin slider in the source view of the website.
Hi!
I just did this and it’s working. Do you think there is a conflict between the theme and one of your plugins?
If you look at the page now you can see the slider and google map
Hi Sarahc,
Yes, I believe so. Upon further inspection, the other sliders code is no longer present on your website. This isn’t something I can really fix. Could you please contact your theme developer and report this issue with the slider conflict?
This is because I just deactivated the other slider plugin.
Thank you for your help, any idea on how I can fix this issue? I’ll contact them thank you!
Another questions was : at the bottom of the page I am using a your plugin for the “about us” part. When I switch to mobile view I wanted the picture on the left to shrink next to the text and not collapse under or below the text. I was looking for the same effect as the one on this page (bottom) : https://www.appearhere.co.uk/spaces/the-engine-room
Any idea if this is doable?
Thank you!!
Sarah.
Hi Sarahc,
Now I know it’s not present on the page, but do you have the plugin Crelly Slider installed? If it is, that’s the issue. Please disable it.
I just deleted it completely
Hi Sarahc,
I’m very sorry about this but, please don’t contact your theme developer about this issue. I presumed this was a theme issue due to the above solution however if you’ve deactivated the plugin and it fixed the issue – that’s at fault.
Regarding your follow up question; you can change this with some custom CSS. However, for me at least, the image is always below the text. Could you check and see if that row is set up with columns rather than a no column row?
Hi Alex, no the issue is not resolved. I deactivated the plugin but it still doesn’t work.
When I switch themes it does work. So it looks like it’s a compatibility issue.. Witch is weird because it’s the modules theme and they have your plugins integrated :-)
http://demos.quadroideas.com/modules/
You see it under the theme because your plugins are only being loaded once when I save the portfolio item on the backoffice. It works once and then not again. I will save it now so it you refresh the page on your end it will work once you will see?
Thank you!!
Sarah.
Concernig the second questions it’s set up with columns
Hi Sarahc,
Just had another looked – thank you for doing that btw. I’ve noticed that our code for the slider isn’t loaded on my second load. It’s quite possible that this is a theme issue. Could you please contact your themes developer to report this issue. I will also make note of this in our issue tracker to see if it’s an issue on our end.
It’s your code for the slider and the code for the google map and the code for the bottom layout. Basically your code is being loaded only once…
Hi Sarahc,
Regarding the CSS styling. This too looks to break as the about us section appears correctly on initial load but on the second load it breaks. This might be a plugin conflict issue with your theme, and SiteOrigin. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
Please don’t switch theme during the above process so we can rule out a plugin issue in general.
Hi I tried again but still not difference.
I give up :(
Hi Sarahc,
I’m sorry to hear that. Are you sure there isn’t anything we can do?
well aside from explaining why your code is loading only once…
Thank you,
Sarah.
Hi Sarahc,
Just to confirm; our plugin is working when you change the theme correct?
Yes you are correct, I know its not your fault :-) But a theme problem…
It’s just that they are not answering so problematic!
Question : I am using the SiteOrigin Image plugin on a page. I would like to change the size of the font used for the title of the image. It’s currently a
title. Can you please help me with the code I should use in css?
Thank you!
Sarah
Hi Sarahc,
I’ll take a look at the theme tomorrow to see if I can spot the issue. :)
Regarding the font used in images. You can do this two ways; one would be to add it to each widget manually.
Open the widget, go to the widget styles side and open the attributres tab. Then input “font-family: monospace;” into CSS styles.
If you want the change to be global, you can do this by navigate to AppearanceCustom CSS, you’ll get our custom CSS editor. Just add the following code.
You might also need to install the SiteOrigin CSS Editor.
Thank you so so so much! Fantastic!
Hi Alex,
I hope you are well, I’m wondering if you can help with the below question as I still haven’t resolved the issue :
At the bottom of the page I am using your plugin for the “about us” part. When I switch to mobile view I wanted the picture on the left to shrink next to the text and not collapse above or below the text. I was looking for the same effect as the one on this page (see bottom) : https://www.appearhere.co.uk/spaces/the-engine-room >> the portrait stays on the left side of the text.
Any idea on how I can do this?
You had asked how it was set up and I’m sending you a picture of admin, hope this helps?
Thank you so much!!!
Sarah.
Hi Sarahc,
Thank you for that. I think you might be better off replacing the two widgets on the right with a single layout builder widget. That way it’ll be treated closer to a single column. Then, once that’s done I can provide you with CSS to try and force it.
Fantastic Alex, what would the css code be to force it?
I’ve deleted the button but I’m wondering if I can add it below the text with a code insert maybe?
Thank you!
Sarah.
Hi Sarahc,
I can’t seem to access your website at the moment so I’ll try and give it to you soon.
You can add a link with HTML. Here’s HTML for a basic example link:
Hi Alex,
I hope you are well, it would be fantastic if you could let me know how to proceed with the above! Much much appreciated :-)
Thanks a lot,
Sarah.
Hi Sarahc,
Please put the other widgets in your footer into a layout builder. They need to be grouped, and right now they’re being treated as different (due to them not being in that widget).
Hi Alex, It’s not the footer that i’m trying to change but :
At the bottom of the page I am using your plugin for the “about us” part. When I switch to mobile view I wanted the picture on the left to shrink next to the text and not collapse above or below the text. I was looking for the same effect as the one on this page (see bottom) : https://www.appearhere.co.uk/spaces/the-engine-room >> the portrait stays on the left side of the text.
Thanks!
Hi Sarahc,
WELL… I feel silly. I have no idea why I thought you were talking about the footer. Sorry! Please add a class to that row by clicking the wrench above it. Then go to row styles, and click attributes. Then add, say force_lfloat. Then, if you navigate to AppearanceCustom CSS, you’ll get our custom CSS editor. Just add the following code.
You might also need to install the SiteOrigin CSS Editor.
Thanks a lot Alex, What’s a wrench?
Hi Sarahc,
A wrench is a tool. On the web it typically means edit. Here’s what it looks like:
Hi Alex,
Thanks, it’s not working I’m afraid :(
I do need to add the class to the row where I have the image on the left and the text on the right directly right?
Thanks,
S.
Ah it’s working yessss :-)
Thanks so much!!!
Hi Sarahc,
Great to hear that it’s working. :) Is there anything else I can help you with today?
One last question pretty please?
On that page – on the left – the part where I have text + the google map below.
Depending on the lenght of the text above it won’t stretch to the bottom of the corresponding column on the right. So basically if my text is short I have some grey space under the Google map. I tried putting a height:100% but it won’t work, I also thought of adding a minimum-height but that’s not ideal no? Any suggestion?
Thanks so much!
Sarah.
Hi Sarahc,
Your best bet is to set a min-height on that column, that way they it’ll match the typical height of that column. Something like the following CSS should work:
Please note I haven’t tested it so you might need to adjust it.
