Siteorigin Pagebuilder and Google and Shortcode

Hello guys,

Iam new to this forum and Iam very grateful that it exist.

First: I red a post about problems with yoast seo and SiteOrigin page builder (Post is 2 years old). Yoast SEO could not read the text because it was in the SiteOrigin Editor widget which also was in the row. I was wondering, If yoast SEO has problems to identify the text on my page, does google has the same problems ?

Second: I have a plugin which uses a shortcode [blablabla]. When I put the shortcode on a page or on a post it works. When I put the shortcode in the visual Editor, which is in the row, than it does not work (I tested the shortcode in TExt and HTML). What can I do ?

    Hi Andrea,

    1. To clarify, version few people actually have issues with Yoast Anymore. To clarify, Yoast works by detecting the content via a certain field*. Sometimes content isn’t copied over to this field, or there’s not enough content to copy over it.

The Google Crawler sees the resulting markup which is completely different to how Yoast checks it (they check for a specific field that Google has no access to – this is the same on every WordPress website) it. They work completely differently and you have nothing to worry about in regards to Google not being able to crawl your content.

    * To clarify, if this is happening to you, please navigate to WP AdminSettingsPage Builder and open the Content Tab. Ensure that the Copy Content setting is enabled – then add an RSS widget to the page, save and remove the RSS widget – how does that look?

    2. This could be happening for a number of reasons. The most likely cause is that Automatically add paragraphs setting is interfering (there’s a checkbox below the editor). I would recommend disabling that to see if that helps. Another option would be to try adding it via a text widget.

    Hi Alex,

thank you for your informative response. I big stone just felt off my heart that there is no SEO problems.

Google says: “you should create a unique title for each page on your Site” for SEO purpose.
But I hide the title on each page with your hide function because the title does not fit in the design of the page. For example I can not make it centered or change the font size. But when I hide the title of each page, I think the title is hide in the source code too. But google says, you need a title for each page. How can I solve this ?

      Hi Andrea,

      Sorry for the delay.

By Title they mean the title element which is different to the on page title.

Regardless, if the on page title is hidden you’ll need to show it somehow else (headers are important). Be it by unhiding the page title or adding a new header via a SiteOrigin Headline widget.

    HI Alex again,

    To my question 2:
I got the plugin “kk star ratings”” where visitors can give me a star and rate me.
I tried your recommendation with Automatically add paragraphs and adding it via a text widget. But when I put the short code in the widget it just shows me the shortcode when I visit the site. This happen just when I create a row and add a widget Text or Visual editor. Like you know, I have to add a widget because otherwise I can not add the short code. The plugin works when I add the shortcode on a page or on a post without any problems. Does the plugin developer has to make the plugin compatible to SiteOrigin Page builder? Any other recommendations?

      Hi Andrea,

I would recommend contacting the developer of kk star ratings and ask if they use the WordPress standard “add shortcode” functionality. If they don’t (and are instead filtering the post content itself), they’ll need to add support for it for SiteOrigin Page Builder to be able to handle the shortcode.
