SiteOrigin Page Builder + Shortcake Shortcodes

Hi,

I am using SiteOrigin page builder with my preium Vantage theme and it’s awesome. However i have some custom work done i have to code some custom shortcodes and need to ask your expert help to achieve something described bellow:

I am willing to use shortcake to build my shortcodes:
https://github.com/fusioneng/Shortcake

Now i know i can use visual editor widget to insert shortcodes anywhere in page builder, however my concern is if it is possible to integrate it with page builder without using a visual editor widget.

I am willing to add a button on bage builder beside the [+ Add Widget ] button as [ + Add Shortcode ] and than it opens the shortcode modal window as provided by shortcake api, and than by selecting a shortoced it is added to the selected row/cell same as widgets does.

Hope you understand my point? Is there any workaround to achieve this? If so please guide me.

Also another request is to ask is i am creating custom widgets also using Widget Bundle api, how to add a Post category selector dropdown please? For default posts and for any particular custom post types?

Waiting for response.

Thanks,
Munir

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Munir

    Thanks for reaching out.

As you mentioned, using the Visual Editor widget would be the best way to proceed here. For anything beyond that, you’ll find our Page Builder developer documentation here: https://siteorigin.com/docs/page-builder/. Unfortunately, your request in that regard is beyond the scope of support we’re currently able to offer. In the future we’ll be expanding the developer documentation so keep an eye on those.

The Widgets Bundle documentation can be found here: https://siteorigin.com/docs/widgets-bundle/. Those will also be expanded during the course of 2015. The closest we can offer in the Widgets Bundle to answer your question is the post selector field.

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for getting back to my request, however i am aware of both docs you mentioned but that is very limited documentation there, i need to understand more as a developer as i am trying to build some cool addon plugins for siteorigin and i am stuck with limited documentation unfortunately :(

Is there no other help you may offer in that regard?

    Thanks,
    Munir

    Hi, I Work Here

For sure, thanks for your feedback in this regard. We’ll be doing our best to get the dev. documentation expanded during the course of the year. Unfortunately, at the moment we’re stretched pretty thin and aren’t able to offer support at this level. Hopefully as our capacity expands during the year we’ll be able to help out more on this level.

Sorry we don’t have more for now.
