SiteOrigin Page Builder blocking page update/publication

Recently my internet connection cut out while working on a page with Page Builder and after having to leave it without saving I am unable to use the plugin. If I try publishing a new page I get a little grey “loading” wheel that stays on indefinitely without anything happening. If I open an existing page built with Page Builder I get the same wheels instead of a preview. If I click those I get the normal Page Builder layout, but if I open an element I do not see any contents.

I have tried removing and reinstalling the plugin, but that does not help. If I deactivate it I am able to publish new pages without any issue, but for the existing pages I still cannot do anything, not even convert to HTML. The pages still show fine on the site, I simply cannot do any editing.

Rebuilding the page from scratch with another editor is obviously something I would prefer avoiding, so any pointers to how I can resolve this would be very welcome. Am thinking something went wrong when I had the connection problem, but don’t know what would remain from Page Builder that would cause issues even after removing the plugin.

Many thanks,
Martin

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Martin

    Thanks for reaching out.

When able, please, run a quick plugin conflict test. If you temporarily deactivate all plugins except for those authored by SiteOrigin, does the issue persist?

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for getting back to me!

I did a conflict test both ways and with no plugins I can publish new pages, same for all plugins except SiteOrigin Page Builder (Including SiteOrigin Widgets and CSS), while with Page Builder active and all other plugins deactivated I cannot publish pages (the same goes for Page builder in combination with any number of other plugins).

Regarding HTML conversion, I am able to convert pages created with SiteOrigin to HTML, but cannot save/update the pages after doing so, even if deactivating all plugins.

Thanks for your time and hope you have a nice weekend!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Martin

When the issue occurs, please, open the browser console. If errors are present in red text, take a screenshot, upload it imgur.com or any sharing site/public URL and send us the link. Here is how: https://wordpress.org/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis.

    Hi again Andrew!

So, WordPress locked me out of the account with a random error for a few hours. When I was able to access the account again now I re-activated the plugin and, for unexplained reasons, everything works fine now. I have no idea how it sorted itself but suppose all is fine now :) Thanks for the help anyway, and if it recurs I will check the Javascript errors!

    Cheers,
    Martin
