SiteOrigin editor stops working when Smart Logo Showcase is active

Notice: This thread is over two years old; the information may be outdated. Please consider creating a new thread if you require free support. If you have an active SiteOrigin Premium license, you can email our premium support desk at [email protected].

After the latest WP update to 5.5.1, SiteOrigin layout blocks stopped appearing correctly in the editor and gave this error message:
“Your site doesn’t include support for the “siteorigin-panels/layout-block” block. You can leave this block intact, convert its content to a Custom HTML block, or remove it entirely.”
Another user found a conflict with the Smart Logo Showcase plugin. I have been following their thread but it is now closed.
I also started a thread on the AccessPress support forum (they wrote Smart Logo) so wanted to post the link here so others can find it. They told me I needed to submit an email request for more help, but will share any useful information I receive.

Please let me know if SiteOrigin make any changes that allow the editor to work with Smart Logo.

[I could not post the link to the AccessPress forum because the filter thought it was spam.]

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Paul,

I’ve identified the cause of this issue and I’ve come up with a fix. I recommend reporting this issue to the developers of Smart Logo Showcase as they run into isues with other plugins.

You can install the patched verison of Siteorigin Page Builder by opening your website and navigating to PluginsInstalled plugins and find Page Builder by SiteOrigin. Deactivate Page Builder by SiteOrigin and then delete it. Scroll to the top of the plugins page and click Add New. Click Upload Plugin and upload this file. When prompted, activate Page Builder by SiteOrigin.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

Just one thing: it seems like I have to do block recovery every time I start a new editing session. So that’s a probably limitation of the patch. I’ve heard from AccessPress and I linked them to this thread, so I hope they will coordinate with you about a long term fix.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Paul,

That’s strange. I haven’t come across that while testing the provided patch. Hm. It’s possible the layout needs to be regenreated. Please try opening the affected page, recovering the block, and then making a change to the SiteOrigin Layout Block (for example, add an Archives widget). Save, and then optionally revert the change you made.

After reloading, do you still need to recover the block?

    Kind regards,
    Alex
