SiteOrigin Editor – Error Message

Hi,

Today I went to make some minor changes to text on my WordPress website (Sydney theme) and I can no longer edit any text and it has completely disappeared from my website.

When I try I get the message “You need ot install SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle to use the widget SiteOrigin_Widget_Editor_Widget”

When I go to install this I get the following error message”Installation failed. Destination folder already exists”.

Can someone help? Please note I am NOT a computer expert and will most likely need a step by step guide (with screenshots if possible). I have seem some replies where it talks about changing this and that command but I have no clue about this stuff except my basic knowledge which I got from watching YouTube.

Over to you lovely techy types….cheers in advance!

Mark

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Mark,

This is a sign of a failed WordPress plugin update. Unfortunately, this will require a complicated fix as you’ll need to manually (separate to WordPress) remove the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin directory and to do that you’ll need to use FTP. As a result of this, I would recommend reaching out to your hosting provider for assistance with doing this as they will typically have either an easier way of doing this (some sort of File Manager for your website) or visual instructions for using FTP with their servers.

To fix this issue you’ll need to FTP into your website and navigate to your WordPress directory. Open the wp-content directory, and then the plugins directory. Find and delete the so-widgets-bundle directory. This will not result in data loss.

Open your website and navigate to WP AdminPluginsAdd New and search for and install the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for your reply Which I really appreciate. I’m not sure what FTP means but I’ll ask my hosting provider. In the meantime I’ve had to delete all my pages and will now start again from scratch.

I guess it‘s one way to learn!

no doubt I’ll be back at some point soon.

    Regards

    Mark
