Hello!
The first slide of our live SiteOrigin Slider is not resizing, but everything works once a slide is advanced, or if you resize the window manually. It seems to work well in a local staging environment, but not on this live one:
(the slider is that sustainability diagram just below the fold).
Sounds similar to this issue (https://siteorigin.com/thread/temporary-first-slide-resize/), though the suggested CSS fix did not work in my case.
Any thoughts? Thanks!
Hi, thanks for posting your question.
The reply in the linked thread is focused on the Spacious WordPress theme, so I don’t think that solution would be helpful in any other situation. Is there currently a height value set in the Design section of the Slider Widget?
Page: Slider Widget Documentation
We do not. We’d like the slider height to maintain the proportions of the image while filling the container width. Works great past that first slide. Perhaps it needs a resize function after that 1st image load?
Thanks for helping!
Thanks for the update. For interest’s sake, what happens if you set a height of 792px?
Looks good on large screen sizes, since the slider height maxes out where it should, but once the screen size gets smaller, the image crops.
Is the height value currently in place?
I made a copy of the page. It is set here:

Thanks for the link.
You can try using the mobile height value to compensate for the issue on smaller screens.
I can’t reproduce the first slide issue; you can view a test here https://demo.siteorigin.com/corp/sandbox/. A full plugin conflict test is the quickest way to make progress. Test to see if the issue persists with all plugins deactivated (temporarily) that aren’t authored by SiteOrigin. Alternatively, start with any image or performance-related plugin. Anything handling image resizing, lazy loading, caching, etc. Smush, for example. The initial goal is to find a working baseline.
