Site origin post carousel not working and search button in header disappeared

Hello, please be aware that I am new to wordpress and have limited coding experience.
I have the following problems & questions:

1) In my side bar I have a Site origin post carousel widget. I have inserted two posts in the post query, but when I try to click the arrows to view the second post it doesn’t work. The carousel only shows the first post in the query list and won’t show anything else when pressing the arrows.

2) I didn’t do any update or changed anything and the search button in the header disappeared, even though it is selected under “appearance” => “search in menu” => “enabled”.

3) A theme update reminder popped up in my dashboard and I have a question: when updating to a new version do you lose the content of your website? If not what do you lose exactly? Do you lose pages content, posts and pictures? Do you lose custom CSS?

Thank you.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Beatrice,

    For issue #1
Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    [email protected]

Just navigate to Users > Add New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the “Send Password” field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    For issue #2
I have just checked your site and this is visible at the moment, kindly confirm if you solved this?

    For issue #3
You don not loose any content/pictures/posts. However you may loose custom css that was not placed in the Custom CSS section provided. As a rule of thumb always make sure you have a complete backup to your site whenever making changes

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply!
I created the new administrator as requested.

Regarding the search button for some reason it shows up in Explorer and Chrome, but it disappeared from Firefox…. no idea why.

For custom CSS I only use the custom CSS section, so I guess I should be ok.

    Thank you again.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Beatrice

I took at a look at the search icon issue in Firefox in OS X. All seems well. Are you still seeing that problem in Firefox. Could you perhaps try clearing the cache in that browser to see if you get a different result?

Within the Carousel widget, the setting “Posts Per Page” was set to 1, I changed that to 2 and your other post now shows. You can increase that to 10 or 20 if you’d like.

    Hello Andrew,

    thank you for your help!

I cleaned the cache in my browser but the search button still doesn’t appear. As long as other people see it I guess it’s ok, maybe it’s just a problem of my computer.

I had no idea that the Posts Per Page option meant how many posts are shown in the carousel; I thought it meant how many posts are shown on the page at once XD sorry about that.

Thank you again for your help!

    Hi, I Work Here

If you could perhaps try another computer at some point that would be great. Unfortunately still not managing to reproduce on our side. Let me know if that’s not possible and I’ll try test on another machine tomorrow.

Yeah I don’t have another pc available. I can probably check at work tomorrow though.

    Hi, I Work Here

Ok cool. We’ve tested in OS X Firefox x 2 and Windows Firefox x 1 on our side, both are good to go.
