I have a contact form for a charity website which is set up to deliver the message to two different email addresses. On the first address the email is received with the “From” details being derived from the senders email address (as you would expect) but on the second email address the “From” details are recorded as “To: the-first-email-address“.

Although this is not the end of the world it is somewhat annoying for the person accessing the second email address as every incoming contact form has exactly the same “From” details.

I’m not sure if there is something that I can do to ensure that the “From” details are the same on both emails or if this is an unresolved issue with the widget itself.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated before the massed ranks of volunteers descend on my house with pitchforks and flaming torches :)

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Pete,

Unfortunately, the From Email address needs to be the one defined in the contact form settings to prevent the email being accidentally flagged as spam. Certain email providers and clients will allow you to indirectly avoid this by changing the displayed email from the From email to the Reply-to email. We set the users email as the reply-to email so when you (or your volunteers) click reply they’ll reply to the user-submitted email rather than yourself so if your mail provider (or email client) has the option of telling it to favour the reply-to email I recommend enabling that setting. Each email provider and email client is different so I’m unable to provide specific instructions on how you would do this so I recommend reaching out to your email provider for instructions.

    Kind regards,
    Alex
