Hey guys, bit of an urgent situation. I moved a site from a subdomain to an addon domain on host gator per their instruction. The domain hosted on godaddy was pointed to host gator. The homepage domain loaded, but my secondary pages remained under the subdomain. In a few steps of trying to get my links working under the addon domain I’ve down my site. The homepage goes to posts, and other links have internal server errors. I have a backup of the site but I need to get all my links under the domain. Do you have a direct contact where I can provide the details?
Thanks!

Update: I have the homepage up again. I re-imported database, but I’m getting 404 errors on secondary pages now. Any help you can send my way would be great!

    Hi [email protected]

Sorry to hear about the hassle. Glad you’ve been able to make some progress.

I’m not really following what was done or why so it’s a little hard to advise further. General WordPress 404s are often solved by going to Settings > Permalinks and clicking Save. That writes a new .htaccess file. A necessary step after moving a site. I don’t have any other ideas beyond that, for now at least :)

    Thanks for the followup.

This is the first time I’d run into this problem. I finally resolved by moving all wp working files except the wp-content folder out of the the new directory I moving too. Then I moved all other wp files from the build directory into the new. From there a few image links throughout the site needed to be fixed but the URL of all the pages finally lined up under the correct domain.
