Sidebar makes footer wider

Hi,

When I put on the sidebar (theme Vantage) it change the footer area. All the links, logos etc. are still there, but they are now more to the sides than center. Is it possible to “lock” the footer so the links, logos won’t move when I put on the sidebar?

Regards

    Hi Tina,

    Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? To clarify, this shouldn’t be happening so I’m quite confused as to why it’s happening for you.

    Hi Alex,

    Yes try to have a look at http://spartner.dk/ (Danish version) here I haven’t put on the sidebar. The links, logos etc in the footer are ‘in the middel’ just below all the other text. But if you change to the English site – http://spartner.dk/en/ you can see the sidebar makes the footer wider and the links, logo etc. are not at the same place as they are at the Danish site.
    I have seriously tried to look around the backend to see if there should be a check mark that could be the cause of my problem. I just can not figure out where the error is.

    Regards

    Hi Tina,

    Have you made any modifications to any of your theme files? I ask as the footer isn’t inside the page wrapper in the markup which is.. well… it shouldn’t be possible unless the theme was modified. Regardless, the following CSS will add the container back to the footer but I’m unsure why this happened.

    Please navigate to WP AdminAppearanceCustom CSS:

    body.responsive.layout-full #colophon .full-container {
    	max-width: 1080px;
    	margin-left: auto;
    	margin-right: auto;
    }

    You might also need to install the SiteOrigin CSS Editor.

    Dear Alex,

    You’re brilliant. Thank you very much. There has fallen a boulder from my heart :-)

    No, the only thing I have changed is in the marsterhead where I have recorded it with 20px of the padding-top and padding-bottom. Nothing else. (To tell you the trouth – I wound’t know were to remove the footer from the page wrapper :-) ).

    Ones again, I really appreciate your help.
    Have a very nice day.

    Reduced of course – instead of recorded … :-)
