Sidebar in Vantage Premium Theme

Is there anyway to display a sidebar on the Vantage Premium Theme? I have been searching for a week and cannot find how to do it. I downloaded and activated the woosidebar pluggin, but not sure what to do now. Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi David

Just adding a few widgets to the sidebar widget area should get Vantage to display the sidebar. You can do this by navigating to Appearance > Widgets and adding widgets to the “Sidebar” area.

If you’ve done this and it’s still not displaying a sidebar, then it’s possible your old pages are being cached. Clearing both your browser cache and any caching plugins that you might have installed should fix this.

    Hello David,
I have been looking for a while on how to add a sidebar to the Home Page when using Page Builder (since yesterday) and found your post.
Are you referring to the to Pages and Posts or to the Home Page?
I have seen some hints that a sidebar can be added when using Page Builder, but am not clear exactly how to do it.

    Hi David

To add a sidebar to the home page, go to Appearance > Home Page, at the top, click the Edit as a Page button. Next locate the Page Template drop down menu in the right column and set it to Default.

    Hope that helps.

    Hello David,

Let me know if you made any progress. I also have downloaded and starting testing sidebar plugins.

sidebar-widget-manager-for-wordpress is highly recommended, but have tested and so far does not seem to work with Page Builder. They are marketing some sort of page builder as well. (Am looking into this further and plan to set up a testing site to investigate usability of Vantage and Page Builder.)

Here is a link to somebody else’s use of vantage premium who seems to have come up with a solution, but not being a coder, and he didn’t provide details, I am not sure what he did, or if it relates to our problem.

Thread: Vantage Premium theme, Page Builder, Advanced Sidebar Menu stylin problem

Andrew, your answer is a good example of a “catch-22”.

David, didn’t state the details, but many people do not want to use the default template (there is a lot I maybe missing as there are many possibilities) because one selling point of Page Builder is to use custom templates.

So far I have not seen one example of anybody using columns and the “traditional” sidebar. I have seen one example, perhaps, of somebody who has three columns (on the home page) and uses the 3rd column as a sidebar, but do now know how she is doing it.

For now, I am going back to NOT using Page Builder because it takes so much time to troubleshoot.

      Hi, I Work Here

      Hi @qualogadm

If you’d like further help with this, please, open a new thread and then post the link here. We’d love to help out but do that best when we’re working with one question per thread. If you’d like to jump in on thread to help the original poster out, that’s great. Otherwise, please, open a new thread.

Page Builder will operate in the provided content area. It’s really easy to use it in conjunction with a traditional sidebar.

There is no widget visibility plugin that works with Page Builder at the moment. Jetpack Widget Visibility for example, doesn’t work with Page Builder. I’m sure that’s something we’ll introduce in the future.

      All the best.

THANK YOU, Andrew and Greg. I cleared cache and then went to Appearance > Home Page, at the top, click the Edit as a Page button. Next locate the Page Template drop down menu in the right column and set it to Default. That fixed it! I Now have a side bar on my home page! Thank You very much.
