i’ve tried to use a shortcode in the text of a category.
From the official Support i received this message:

Sadly this isn’t something we can work around but I’m going to log this and it’ll be fixed in the next version. Sorry mate! :(
But maybe someone of you can fix this, if it’s just a little thing? We can also get in touch for some freelance opportunity..

Are there yet any plans of when the next update will be release and if this bug is fixed in this update or which release will have a fix for this?

I don’t have a timeline for resolution, it depends on how quickly bugs in front of it get resolved. Sorry, wish I had more to offer. I understand this is an important fix for your install. Codeable or any development service would be the way to go if you want it done right way. The link provided will be updated as soon as there is any movement on the issue.
