Several icons have disappeared in the SiteOrigin Editor widget

Hi,
I entered some text into the Editor widget and used, for example, the indent space option, and now this icon and several others have disappeared.

Does anyone know how to make them reappear! I don’t know how to use html.

Thanks.
Gail

    Hi Gail,

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

    Hi Alex,

Thanks very much for getting back to me.

My website is not public yet as there’s a few things I need to finish, but I can send a screenshot of the Editor to display the icons I do have, although I’m not clear if its possible to upload an image on this forum..?

Basically, I really want access to the indent option which was there originally on the second row of icons, however at some point, the second row disappeared entirely.

    Thank you.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Gail,

Unfortunately, I need to inspect the issue itself to be able to work out why this is happening,
I’m unsure what indent options you’re referring too. To clarify, what widget are you using?

Regardless, you’ll need to upload the screenshot to a third party image hosting site like vgy.me or Imgur and send me a link.

    Hi Alex,

Here’s an image of the available icons in SiteOrigin Editor. My understanding is that there should be several more icons (which it did originally before they disappeared, including indent.)

    Thanks!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Gail,

Thanks. Most of the pictured buttons are either not present in the default TinyMCE Editor (this is the name of the editor used in both WordPress and SiteOrigin Editor) or on the second toolbar. Some of those buttons can be added/moved using TinyMCE Advanced but some of them look to be completely custom – they’re being added by a third party plugin that we’re not familiar with and for those buttons you’ll need to install the relevant plugin adding those buttons to be able to use them.

    Does that make sense?

Um, maybe, but not really! Can you make it more ‘remedial person’ language? :)

I.e. All I want to do is make the 2 rows of icons appear as they’re supposed to (you’re saying mine are custom and I’ve done something to make this happen..?) Is that right?

So if I want them to display normally again, I need to…?

    Thanks!
    Cheers

    While you’re there…

Is there a way to place a rectangular block of colour behind text using one of your widgets?

I.e. refer to choosingaspermdonor.com.au – image of the 3 world globes and the text. I want to place a white background behind the text and change the text colour.

    Thanks very much!
    Cheers

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Gail,

Basically, that’s not how the editor looks by default. You’ll need to install a plugin to make it look like that, and that plugin is TinyMCE Advanced. Once installed, please navigate to WP AdminSettingsTinyMCE Advanced.

I’m unsure how it previously looked like that (because, as mentioned, the editor doesn’t look like that by default), but it’s not displaying like that anymore because the plugin you were previously using isn’t present (or it stopped working).

If you’re just after the two toolbars, click the Toggle Toolbar button – just note, that certain things in your screenshot won’t be present without TinyMCE Advanced or an additional plugin.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Gail,

Oh sorry – didn’t mean to ignore your other reply.
This is possible, but unfortunately, this is beyond the scope of the support we’re able to offer on our free forums. There is a fair amount of custom work involved.

We do offer this level of support to our premium users, so if you’d like to upgrade to SiteOrigin Premium, then I can help you over email support.

If you’d prefer not to upgrade to SiteOrigin Premium, then you can hire a WordPress developer from Codeable. They’ll charge you an hourly rate for any work done.
