    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi

Are you asking about the more quicktag? https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/

The more quicktag is used to split up posts between your archive and single blog post pages. You can see the tag in use on the SiteOrigin blog: https://siteorigin.com/blog/. The post is split for the archive page, when click read more, you’re taken to the single post page to continue reading. No URL is required.

Thank you Andrew for your great suggestions but can I not proceed to utilize the ‘more info’ feature simply from the this edit page – would putting in the url do the trick (I must admit I don’t know what to put there)-

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update, I see where you are now. The more URL, in this case, is where you’d like to link the Circle Icon. For example, if the circle icon and its contents were about contacting you, you could link it to your contact page. You can also leave this field blank.

    Hi, I Work Here

In some cases, your Circle Icon or Features Widget is leading somewhere, it’s a sample of further information to be provided on another page, in that case, you’d add the URL of the page the information leads to. In other cases, the information is complete and it isn’t necessary to link to further reading. If the information is complete and you don’t need to link to further reading, you can leave the More URL blank.

Sorry to keep bothering you, Andrew – but the main body of the text (According…..) appears and I would like it to pop up when you press ‘more info’ after the first sentence (in light blue) – thanks again

    Hi, I Work Here

No problem at all. If possible, please send a link to the site and we’ll take a look.

The link is consensusmediation.org – the problem is in the News and Issues page – where the the long text appears under the short text – supposedly, the long text should only appear when you press the ‘more info’ button – thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, the Circle Icon widget doesn’t have the functionality you’re looking for. The more text is only there as a link. This widget doesn’t have hide/show functionality. The more text and more URL fields are just there to add a link at the bottom of the text, nothing more.

I usually recommend the following plugin for show/hide text: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-showhide/. You’d need to use that plugin’s shortcodes in conjunction with a SiteOrgin Editor widget, it won’t work with the Circle Icon widget. You can, however, recreate your layout in an Editor widget.

Finally, it’s worth noting that ideally, news should be added a post, a post per news item. You’d then insert a Post Loop widget on your news page. That Post Loop widget would automatically pull your posts into the page. That would be the best way to utilize WordPress for your news page.
