Seperate Menu item + a start page for every categorie

Hello Support !
I´m so far not very familar with WP and I downloaded the Vantage Theme with an Upgrade to Premium several months ago. Now I´m trying to get my 1st blog done and I want to have a little more structure for the posts. Which means I want to have about 4 different categories, which should be visible/chooseable from the ´Menu 1´ with a related start page for the specific categorie. In other words, a kind of landing page for each categorie, where only the related posts of this categorie are visible.
I hope this is possible and you can give me a guideline, how I can do it.
Best regards
Erwin

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Erwin,

Preface: it’s highly recommended that you have the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle installed as it’ll make this much easier.

This is possible, but you’ll need to create custom pages instead of relying on the default WordPress functionality – it doesn’t offer typically landing page functionality. Please create a new page (WP AdminPagesAdd New) and enable Page Builder. Add a Post Loop widget and click Build Post Query. Start typing the name of the category you wish to show on this page into the taxonomy field and then select it when it shows up. Click Done and then select the desired template – you may need to try a few of them first.

Repeat this process for each category you want to display like this and then navigate to WP AdminAppearanceMenu and set up your menus by adding the newly created category specific pages.

By the way, as you’re a premium user, you’re entitled to priority email support. If you would like to make use of that, please follow the instructions found on your Page: Dashboard. Please reference this thread and include your SiteOrigin order key in the email.

    Hi Alex !
Thank you for the information, I´ve tried it and I´m getting now closer to the structure I want to build.
    By the way another question:
I found the possibilty to give menu items as well as pages a specific order, not the automatic alphetic order. But I cannot find a possibility to order categories as well according to my favour.

    Hi Erwin,

You can manually specify the order of your menu items by navigating to WP AdminAppearanceMenus.

    Hi Alex,
I mean the order of categories in the side nav area, where categories are automatically in alphabetic order and I found no way to have the catagories to be displayed in another self defined order.

    Hi Erwin,

I’m not too sure what area you’re referring too. Can you please show me a screenshot of it?
