Hello:
I have inherited a site designed originally using Pagebuilder and an external theme. An odd thing happens in it: there’s a section at the bottom of the page that doesn’t appear when I try to edit that page in the admin interface.
Here is the capture of the front page (the part in red is the one that’s giving trouble):

And here is the same page in the WordPress Admin interface:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o813cTHsk3sS7Fy8mZsxv_7XRnr-Z3AA/view?usp=sharing
As you can see, it only shows the first three rows. It’s even stranger when you open the page in PageBuilder’s Live Editing feature:

As you can see, only the first three rows appear. If you try to scroll to the problematic part… nothing happens.
I’ve tried switching to the Twenty Twenty One theme and sure, the problematic part stops appearing, which would point to a problem in the theme I’m using. The theme developer, however, says that they don’t advise using Pagebuilder on the front page in their theme, and refuse to go beyond that, since it’s a third party plugin…
…Which leads me here. Does anyone have any ideas or advice about what to do? Has this happened to anyone before?
Thanks,
Paulo.
Hi Paulo
Thanks for reaching out.
Is the bottom section perhaps a theme widget area? You should be able to check from AppearanceWidgets. Is there perhaps a Footer widget area?
Kind regards
Andrew
Hello:
Thanks for responding. No, there isn’t a footer widget area in my theme…
…however, since we are on this: perhaps this is unrelated, but in my page list I do see something about widgets. There is a column called “Site builder” and in it, the pages that have been edited using Site Builder do have this “Widgets” text:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PGF7nzKxFFYnWC_kOviveETuiIH3LXJe/view?usp=sharing
However, when I open the page for editing, I don’t see any section for adding or removing widgets (only the standard Pagebuilder editor).
Is this related to my problems, or it doesn’t have anything to do with them?
Thanks for your feedback.
However, when I open the page for editing, I don’t see any section for adding or removing widgets (only the standard Pagebuilder editor).
Page Builder uses widgets. You can insert any widget in your WordPress installation into Page Builder. You can add widgets by clicking the Add Widget button in Page Builder. You can remove widgets by hovering over a widget and clicking the delete button.
Try checking the Posts section in WordPress. Try to find a post with ID 2052.
I didn’t find it in the WP admin interface (there are no posts in my site, only pages). However, the “wp_posts” table in the DB does contain an entry with ID 2052. As for its contents, the “post_type” says “page”, and it seems to be an english version of the row that’s giving me trouble: there’s the same text that I showed in my screencap… except that it’s in english instead of spanish (???).
What happens when you edit the translated version of the page? There is a link in the right column when editing the page to edit the English version.
The same. Let me explain in detail: what I’ve showed in the screen caps is a local clone of the production site. The production site uses Polylang for the translations, while I have installed WPML in my local clone (since we are going to add some new stuff to the site and we’ll be switching translation plugins). I used the “Migrate Polylang to WPML” plugin in my local copy to perform the switch, and it seemed to work without a hitch…
…However, in both cases, when I click on the link to go to the translated version, I see the english version of the page, with the same added row on the bottom, and I cannot edit it either. This happens both in the production site and in my local one. In short: what happens is exactly the same than in the original one.
Thanks for the update.
If you look at the page markup, the home page ID is 2308. The section you’re trying to edit is wrapped in an article tag and has an ID of 2052. It looks like a different page to me. At this stage, I’m not sure what else to check without investigating directly. If you have an active SiteOrigin Premium license we’re able to log in to your test or live site and assist directly.
