How do I change the slider pictures and keep the same concept on my home page using the Influence Theme. I want exactly what I see, a picture and video overlay with words. I just want to use my own pictures in this slider. Do I have to recreate something like that using a widget, or is there a simpler way to just replace those pictures and words with my own?
Hi Sura
Please see our documentation on this here:
Page: Home Page
Hope that helps.
Influence accepts the shortcode from other slider plugins. Try out: metaslider.com for a more feature slider plugin.
I saw what it says on the homepage, but honestly that is not really clear. What I am assuming you mean is that yes you have to build a completely different slider as a widget and replace it with the original. So that is step one. REPLACE THE HOMESLIDER WITH A NEW SLIDER WIDGET. the second step would be details on how to create the same type of slider already on the home page with your new information in it. when you writer directions for people new to this website or new to web building, you need to make sure you do not skip any steps. See you have the short code thing, which I have figured out by the way, but the question still remains, uh does that mean a replacement widget from what already exists…so I guess the answer is yes, a new widget. you can’t just cut and paste into what already is there
Thanks for your feedback. Our documentation for this theme and the widget slider process are definitely a work in progress. We appreciate your support.
Yes, at this stage you do need to build a new slider per page. It’s not possible to re-insert the home slider on any other page. On a new page you’d need to go to the Page Builder tab, insert a new row and then insert a Slider widget. Once that’s done, build your slider again using the slider widget. Then, using the right column slider setting, opt to have the slider use the content from your first Page Builder row.
It would then be possible on a brand new page to use the paint brush icon in Page Builder. This icon allows you to clone an existing page. You could clone a page where you’ve already built the slider widget and in this way, replicate the slider.
ok so I did that, but the slider is not the same at all. The home slider has two layers with one being a video and the other being a see through picture and there are words on the slider. how do I build that? The site origins is a lovely product but you do need to have more specific directions. better directions mean happier customers. one way is to get a non -tech person to look at it. they will show you where all the holes are. The page builder is an awesome tool, and pretty easy to use. But some things, like the slider, specifically because when you take that theme, you as the web builder assume you will be able to replicate the look using that theme. in essence, you can not.
Hi Sura. With Influence, Influence Plus and Page Builder, please keep in mind these are completely free products. We’re offering the product, updates and continued support at no charge. We do our best to keep these products in par or even better than premium products. That said, we’re going to run into challenges when premium expectations get placed on these free products and services. Please keep this mind as you move forward. Your feedback has most definitely been noted, and is most welcome. That said, I’m doing my best to help out here, there isn’t any need to repeat the same feedback. I can understand your frustrations, as I’ve mentioned, the widget slider and documentation for this theme are a work in progress.
At this point I’d definitely consider moving to Meta Slider. With Meta Slider you could create your slider, copy the shortcode, drop it into the shortcode field in theme settings and you’d be done. You could also use Revolution, LayerSlider or any other slider plugin.
If you’d like to put some more effort into sorting out the slider widget I’m more than happy to help but please keep your replies on point to the slider and we’ll move through it all much faster. You most definitely can re-create the demo. When editing a slider frame you’ll see three options:
1. Background Videos.
2. Background Image.
3. Foreground Image.
The demo is using:
A background video with a foreground image in the case of the keyboard typing video slider.
And then for the other sliders it’s using a background image with a foreground image. The foreground image is created with a transparent background.
Let me know how you come along with that and I’ll try assist further.
Here is our Slider Widget documentation. If you scroll down you’ll see screenshots for the frame sections I’m referring to:
