I’ve placed an RSS feed icon in the footer of my (non-blog) website (http://www.wbaird.com/) and linked it via FeedBurner. If I update a page with new content will subscribers be notified? I’m new to this and don’t really understand how it all works (even after extensive reading on Google) so please make allowances!!

Hi Bill
In most cases, RSS will only notify your subscribers of any new posts you create, so they won’t be notified of updates to an existing page. What sort of notifications would you like to be sending out to users? Perhaps we can point you in the right direction.
Greg….thanks for getting back to me. I’m fairly new to all this but have used the Vantage (child) theme and I’m quite happy with it. The site is a golf club and I’m the secretary. I’d like to keep members informed of updates to the content automatically (my understanding is that’s what RSS does – for posts). As it is there is no blog page on the site and I’m not really keen on that. Perhaps there’s nothing that can be done.
I appreciate your time.
Hi Bill
Adding a blog would definitely be the best way to post news announcements. For the most part, that’s what a blog is actually for. You don’t even need to dedicate an entire page of your site to the blog, you could just, for example, have a post loop that displays a carousel with all your latest posts on your home page.
Or you could just add a recent posts widget, which gives you some additional control over how these posts are displayed.

Greg……thanks very much for your help……I appreciate it. I’ll look at the options you suggest.
