Restrict page access

By Bill Baird, 6 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 6 years ago.

We are a small golf course and I learned enough WP to put www.carrbridgegolf.co.uk online. I know a little PHP (Procedural – not so much OOP). I would like to restrict the access to the above page to members only. To be clear, when they click the “Members” tab on the Menu I want to be directed to a login/register page, either to sign in or register before being allowed access to the “Notice Board” page. I’ve trawled the web looking for an appropriate plugin but can’t find what I’m looking for. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Bill,

You have two routes you can take to do this, you can go with a simple “user must be logged in” type plugin or you can use a full membership plugin. The latter is more powerful but it is significantly more complicated. For recommendations on the latter, please refer to this article.

For the former, I would try either Restrict Content or for a little more control, Content Control.

Alex…..thanks for that. I’m using Xampp to develop my site and the “Restrict Content” plugin doesn’t seem to work……I’ll see if the plugin site offers any guidance on why not..

    Hi Bill,

I would have a look Restrict Content’s documentation for general usage and if that doesn’t help, reach out to the developers for assistance.
