Responsive: Image widget(!) height not collapsing/scaling vertically in Ie

8 years ago · Last reply by Alex S 8 years ago

hi.

Theme: 2017
Given: Row with a “Image” or SiteOrigin Image” widget containing a fullsize image (ex: 3000x2000px height)

Everything looks good in all responsive layouts in FF and Chrome.

But in IE 11 (yes, i know… sorry):
– the container (panel-grid-cell)
– of the widget (so-panel widget widget_media_image)
– containing the image
(width=3000 height=2000)
(style=height:auto; max-width: 100%;)
retains the height of the original image (2000px) in the responsive layout.

so the images scales properly, but the container won’t collapse to the images height. that results in a huuuge whitespace below the image which is NOT defined by either padding or margin. and it’s only visible in the responsive layout.

we suspect come calculation errors in the dom-tree / flex calculation but we were not able to fix the problem by adding own classes or styles.

can anyone else confirm this or is there a general solution to this?
we tested on a fresh install. no other plugins running.

    Hi Someone2,

I suspect this is just a general issue with the image in ie 11. Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

    Hi Alex.

I can’t give you a public URL unfortunately. But since we experienced that behavior on a total of three installations with two different providers, i don’t think it’s a problem to test it for yourself:

    Recipe:
    Standard theme (2017).
Add PageBuilder and the Widget Packs.
    Add standard Page.
Put in a row with two cols (golden, left-to-right).
In each row either ImageWidget or SiteOriginImage-Widget.
    Add an oversized image each…
    Voila.

Let me know if you can’t reproduce.

    cheers,
    pat

    Hi Pat,

Unfortunately, due to the type of issue, we need to inspect to inspect this issue directly. Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look at this issue?
