Required fields do not show asterisk in comment name and address fields

Notice: This thread is over two years old; the information may be outdated. Please consider creating a new thread if you require free support. If you have an active SiteOrigin Premium license, you can email our premium support desk at [email protected].

The website that I am referring to is: www.emet.us

PROBLEM:
I have turned on “Comment author must fill out name and email” in Setting > Discussion > Other Comment Settings.
Above the “Post a Reply” box at the bottom of posts is “Your email address will not be published. Required fields are marked *”. However, the field names in the field boxes are not actually marked with an asterisk.

SOLUTION ATTEMPTS:
1) I have turned off “…must fill out name and email”, saved the settings, and turned it back on to no avail.
2) If I enable “Comments” through Jetpack Settings > Engagement, then the fields have the required marking to show that they are required, but I lose the beauty of the Origami theme.

QUESTIONS:
1) Is there some way I can resolve this at my end?
2) Does SiteOrigin have a widget that has the functionality of the Jetpack Engagement setting that will maintain the Origami theme design? I searched for one, but didn’t see it. Just hoping that I missed it.

Thanks in advance,
Clint

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Clint,

    1. That’s really odd. Thanks for pointing this out, I’ve added the required attribute to the relevant fields and that’ll be in the next update (no current ETA). Unfortunately, this isn’t something that can be fixed so either need to use a child theme to manually make the adjustments or wait for the theme update.

    2. Unfortunately, not at this time. Sorry mate. :(

    Thanks.

I’ll take a look at implementing a child theme. That’s probably the smartest way to go anyway, from what I’ve read, as I have tinkered with the CSS just to get a feel for it (know next to nothing about it, just experimenting).

    Keep up the great work.

    Regards,
    Clint
