Requests for upgrades to the theme?

On another thread, I saw the following:

1) Vantage theme doesn’t show the tagline. Why not? It is very confusing to click on Appearance > Customize and have the option to type in a tagline that doesn’t show up anywhere.
2) There are ALL SORTS of options to change just about every font size, type, and color under the sun, except the biggest and most noticeable of all: The site title. That apparently has to be changed using CSS.

I know you guys don’t want us to hijack a thread which is why I’m starting a new one. But I find the limitations above to be both confusing and frustrating. Out of all of the things your amazing theme allows you to easily manipulate, it doesn’t make sense to have these limitations in place. Are they on a list of changes to make in the future?

Okay, onto something new that I’m confused about:

When I click on Appearance > Theme Settings > Navigation, it gives me the choice to checkmark “Home Page Icon Enabled” but when I do so, I don’t see any changes on my website. What, exactly, does this change?

I was *trying* to make it so I could add a little icon to each page in the menu header. On my contact page on the right-hand side, WordPress gives me a “Menu Icon” dropdown menu, where I can choose from a HUGE variety of icons. I thought that by choosing “Envelope” on that list, I would have a little envelope icon next to “Contact Page” in the menu header. It didn’t show up, so I tried the “Home Page Icon Enabled” option and it still doesn’t show up. Any ideas?

This is actually the second time I’ve bought your website; I also bought it for my husband’s campaign website (www.kurtisworkman.com). I think it’s a great theme overall – thank you for all of the hard work you’ve done on it.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Havilah

    Thanks for reaching out and for your feedback. We have a long list of Vantage changes pending. I’m sure the ones you’ve highlighted will be addressed moving forward. They are very relevant. The theme was developed over some time and unfortunately little things were occasionally left out along the way.

    1. No, Vantage doesn’t currently use the tagline. Appearance > Theme Settings > Logo: Header Text will appear on the right of the header OR delete that and use the header widget area at Appearance > Widgets: Header.

    2. The Site Title font family is selectable at Appearance > Customize > Fonts > Site Title Font. If you’d like to change the size and or color of that, insert the following under Appearance > Custom CSS and edit as required:

    /* Vantage Site Title */

    header#masthead hgroup h1 {
    color: #666666;
    font-size: 36px;
    }

    Please check that you have a custom menu saved and assigned to the theme’s primary menu location. This check can be done under Appearance > Menus.

    Hope that helps. We appreciate your support.

    I’m excited to hear that there are a lot of changes coming to Vantage Premium. I think there are so many cool features in this theme; I’m happy to hear that it’s going to continue to evolve and change.

    I made a custom menu and made it the primary menu; that has solved the icons-not-showing-up-in-the-menu problem. Very cool – thank you.

    I went ahead and put my tagline into the Appearance > Theme Settings > Logo > Header Text. Thank you for the suggestion. That’s a good workaround until the theme is updated.

    My last problem, the Site Title size and color not editable using the Appearance section like everything else is, unfortunately wasn’t fixed with the CSS workaround. I went to Appearance > Custom CSS and put in

    /* Vantage Site Title */

    header#masthead hgroup h1 {
    color: #083500;
    font-size: 100px;
    }

    I changed the font size to be HUGE just so I could be sure that it “took” the change, and it didn’t work. Also, the color should match my footer (a dark green) but it’s still a gray color. What did I do wrong? I’m fairly adept at copying and pasting… :-/

    Thanks again for your quick help!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Glad to hear you’re making progress. Apologies, that should have been:

    /* Vantage Site Title */

    header#masthead .hgroup h1 {
    color: #083500;
    font-size: 100px;
    }

    Hope that helps. There was a period missing in front of hgroup.

    Hahaha, yup, that worked alright. Like I said, I made the font size huge just to be sure I could tell there was a change happening…My header will definitely need to be shrunk. :-p But I know how to do that and hallelujah, it’s working now. :-)

    Many thanks for your quick responses – it is truly appreciated.
