Hi, love the theme. I was wondering how I can replace the header with a static full-wdith image, overlaid with text.

I have done this using metaslider but feel this is overkill and am trying to make the page more responsive.

Apologies for the delay.
Because of the way Meta Slider handles responsiveness I think it’s still one of the best options for what you’re after. Another option might be to insert a SiteOrigin Hero widget into the required row. Next, edit the row by clicking the wrench icon far right, then click the Layout tab and enable Full Width Stretched in the Row Layout drop down. If it’s your first row we can then use Custom CSS to replace any space under the menu.
