Remove Google fonts from theme

Hi there,

I’m trying to squeeze every bit of performance out of a client site using Vantage that I can..

I’m using Open Sans, and need the 400 and the 700 weights. I was unable to make the 700 weight work by setting it through the customiser, so I added that in the header.php (i’m using a child theme). Works great, but it resulted in two calls to the Google fonts of course.

I also found calls for a Nunito , Lato, Oswald, Yanone Kaffeesatz fonts, which I’m not using, and which aren’t set in the customiser.
Is there a way to disable the Google fonts from Vantage so I can just call my own in the header of my child theme?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Erwin,

Sorry, please disregard my previous reply.

Unfortunately, upon further inspection, this isn’t possible at this time. I’m going to log this as a feature request. Sorry mate. :(

You can, however, prevent the theme from generating the @imports by upsetting the custom fonts by navigating to WP AdminAppearanceCustomize, Theme DesignFonts and set all of the fonts to a standard font – like Arial or Helvetica Neue.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks a lot! Tested it, works perfectly. I could/should have thought of that myself ;-)
