Receiving fatal error 17 PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class SiteOrigin_Widget_Button_Widge

9 years ago · Last reply by Alex S 9 years ago

I am using a theme called POINT (from my theme shop) and the sitebuilder plugin hosted on wp engine. After making some changes recently on my wp engine staging site I moved it into production and the site was rendered useless. Speaking with WP Engine support they report the following error int he log: 17 PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class SiteOrigin_Widget_Button_Widget in /nas/content/live/joelcapp/wp-content/plugins/so-widgets-bundle/widgets/so-button-widget/so-button-widget.php on line 268

    Hi Joel,

So typically when this happens it means you have two copies of the Widgets Bundle installed. Can you check your plugins list to see if this is the case? If it isn’t, could you try a plugin conflict test?

Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If the above doesn’t help, you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

I get this error too with WordPress 4.5.2. I disabled every single plugin. Then I only enabled the “SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle” plugin and bam! Same error: Receiving fatal error 17 PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class SiteOrigin_Widget_Button_Widget

      Hi Nicky,

Thanks – I don’t see anything obvious. We need to move this to a separate thread. As it would be better not to spam Joel. :S

    Hi Joel,

I was able to resolve this issue with Nicky by reinstalling the plugin. Meaning, I deleted the plugin and then reinstall it from WordPress.org.
