Hello I need a “read more” button at the end of each post excerpt in my blog page.
I’ve been searching everywhere on how to do it, but couldn’t find anything.
It’s a crucial issue, because not all users will know they have to click the post title to read the full post.
Here’s a link to my blog: http://www.thevedicpath.org/blog/

Hi Gouramani
Head to Appearance > Theme Settings > Blog and set your Post Content to Full Content. Then go to each post add More tags as required:

Hi, it does work in the blog page, but it messes with the post loop I have in my home page: http://www.thevedicpath.org/
Is there a way of having the read more button added as default when you choose to show the post excerpts? Is it not a functionality of the Vantage theme? It would also be nice if we had the sharing options and a comments counter right there in the blog page instead of only in the posts single. Is it something you think of adding in the next updates?
There is unfortunately no way within Vantage to display a Read More button when using the excerpt layout. If you have a moment perhaps suggest this as a feature here: https://siteorigin.com/suggest-feature/.
I don’t know of any plans to move sharing buttons to the blog layout but it would also be a good suggestion for the above link if you have a moment.
OK, I’ve just suggested these features. I really hope you can make this improvements. It would make Vantage theme a perfect theme.
Do you know why the Read More button doesn’t work in the post loop in my homepage? What should I do to fix it?
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for submitting. If enough users submit the same request it will be considered for entry into the development plan. If you need a feature implemented in a short to medium term timeline it might be best to consider a custom development service like http://codeable.io/
The Post Loop (PB) widget when using the Blog Loop or Blog template will show a Continue reading button only if the post content is set to Full at Appearance > Theme Settings > Blog and the More tag is being used on each post.
Well I did what you said Andrew about More tag but still showing whole post without Continue reading
ok works now .. but yes I do need as well same functionality as Gouramani …
Apologies. It is a Page Builder bug pending for resolution.
You can hotfix by creating a child theme. In the child theme create a file called functions.php and add the following to that file:
This solution crashed site – had to use FTP to remove functions and restore.
Would love to see a fix.
Hi Eran
Sorry to hear you ran into trouble here. The function itself has been tested so it’s possible a syntax error in your functions.php file caused the issue. If you pasted the above function into an existing functions.php and didn’t remove the opening PHP tag, the double tag would have caused the WP installation to fail.
This problem has been resolved though. There shouldn’t be any need for this hotfix assuming your theme and Page Builder are up to date.
I’m new to this theme. I have a post with multiple Visual Editor widgets. I have added a “more” tag to one of the widgets. The theme is set to display FULL POST on the Blog setting.
No such “read more” link shows up in the blog posts. I’ve even created a separate test page with the Post Loop widget with the “more link” checked. Still no results.
Please help. Thank you.
Hi Jay
The More tag is only applicable if used outside of Page Builder in the regular post Visual tab.
For any further assistance, please open a new support thread and we’ll help out as soon as possible.

Thanks
I also would like to have displayed “continue reading button” in post excerpt mode on Vantage premium. It would also fix the issue of using page build in blog post for me. Since adding the tag “read more” on widget text doesn’t work for full post mode.
Regards
Andrea
Hi Andrea
Adding a read more to the excerpt section would unfortunately require custom coding. If you’re interested in hiring someone for that our recommendation is: https://codeable.io/.
Page Builder content isn’t stored in the same variable as regular content. This is the reason the read more quicktag (a core WP feature) doesn’t work with Page Builder content. We have a feature branch in development to fix this. Once it’s been tested we’ll release it. Unfortunately no ETA on that yet.
For any further questions please open a new thread and we’ll help out there.

+1 to this suggestion.
Hi Semper Aye
I’ve marked this thread as a feature request. We often look through these threads to get ideas for what to add in our future updates. Hopefully, we’ll be able to add this in a future update.
If you need this urgently, you could always post a job on https://codeable.io/.
Hello!
Any update on this feature request? I am still having the same issue on the post excerpt without the read more button.
Thank you!
