Quick way to change urls in Page Builder?

Hi there

I have been creating a client site on a subdomain ie. dev.mysite.co.uk and it has now been moved to the main site ie. mysite.co.uk but of course all the manually added urls within Page Builder have not updated eg. button links and icon links.

I have found this thread and followed the instructions by removing the full url and adding the page slug in it’s place with permalinks set to Post name but this didn’t work and I got a 404 Page not found error –

change link Url in Page Builder

I tried Velvet Blues Update URLs plugin but that didn’t change them either so I then had to fix the urls manually.

Usually I work on my localhost and use WP Migrate DB prior to uploading and this changes urls however for this particular site I moved from a subdomain.

Can you advise please if there is a fix for this? Fortunately the site I was working on was small so didn’t take too long to fix but I really don’t want to have to waste time doing this for future client sites.

Many thanks

Bibs

    Hi Bibs,

Preface: The linked thread isn’t related.

We recommend Velvet Blues Update URLs to do this so it’s odd that it wasn’t working for you. To clarify, what was the exact URL you were searching for and what was the replace value you were trying to use?

    Hi Alex

I am revisiting this topic as I have just created a copy of a live site to my localhost. Again, I have used Velvet Blues Update URLS however the SiteOrigin Editor widget links to background images have remained as https where as they now need to be changed to http.

The url I am typing into the plugin is as follows –

    Old url – https://localhost

    New url – http://localhost

the plugin said it has updated links but still I am having to manually edit and remove the pesky “s” on order for the missing images to display.

Everything else works OK on the localhost site – however all background images ares till pointing to https.

    Any thoughts please?

    Many thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Bibs,

That’s odd. I would try Better Search Replace. If that doesn’t work, can you please send me an export for one of that pages that the URLs didn’t update on? Please do this before you update the URL.

To export a page, please open up the page in the editor and click the Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.
