Question regarding dynamic options for products (Vantage)

By Mijasi, 8 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 8 years ago.

Hi,

I’ve been self teaching myself the ins and outs of web design and I’ve hit a snag that I can’t seem to find to-the-point answers for anywhere on the interwebs.

My problem:

I have products that have three seperate color options (Single, Double, and Triple). What I’m trying to do is create some sort of drop down options that appear only when one of these options are chosen.

For instance:

-“Single” chosen
-“Primary Color” drop down appears

-“Double” chosen
“Primary Color” AND “Secondary Color” drop down appear

-“Triple” chosen
-“Primary Color”, “Secondary Color” AND “Accent Color” drop downs appear

Being somewhat new to this, I’m having trouble wording my exact issue to see if there has been a solution on the internet. I’ve tried playing around setting up parent attribute terms but they do not show on the front end. None of these colors effect the end price, however I have set it up that double and triple do add cost to the final price.

I’m sort of praying there is a plug-in that will magically fix my dilemma… but I’m scared that you’re going to tell me I need to start messing with the coding. If I could avoid playing with the coding for now that would be great, but any help you can give me or a direction you can point me in that doesn’t involved broken instruction links and outdated answers will be absolutely appreciated at this point.

    Hi Mijasi,

Based on your post this doesn’t really seem related to Vantage and seems to be more related to an eCommerce plugin you’re using; you might be better off contacting the developers of the relevant plugins for instructions. Presumably, you’re using WooCommerce (my reason for thinking this is due to it being the most popular option), in which case you’re likely after a Variable Product.

    Hi Alex,

Sorry, I completely forgot to add that I use WooCommerce, you’re absolutely correct with that assumption. Thank you for taking the time to get back to me – I’ll definitely check into the variable products add-on.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

    Hi Mijasi,

To clarify, variable products aren’t a WooCommerce add-on. That functionality is included with the base version of WooCommerce.
