“Products in Category (Menu Group Layout)” Widget

To display WooCommerce products in my website, I use Widget “Products in Category (Menu Group Layout)”. It does display products in each menu group, but the listing order cannot be changed at all. Even though the listing order of each product is changed in product edit screen, the changes are reflected. I properly set Default Product Sorting to “Custom Ordering + Name”, but that does not work. Does anyone have the same issue ?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Koichiro

    Thanks for reaching out.

    A quick test you can run is to insert the widget at AppearanceWidgets into a theme widget area. Does the issue persist when the widget is inserted into a theme widget area? That’ll let you know if the problem is linked to Page Builder by SiteOrigin. If the issue does persist in a theme widget area then it might be best to reach out to the widget plugin authors for assistance. Unfortunately, I don’t have experience with the Products in Category widget.

    Hi, Andrew.

    Thanks so much for looking into the issue. Yes, the issue persists even the widget is inserted to the theme widget area. I think this is an issue more like a bug. Maybe the best interest would be to find the other theme which would resolve the issue.

    Thanks again and have a good day…

    Regards,

    Koichiro

    Hi Koichiro

    Thanks for checking.

    If the widget in question is provided by a plugin then it’s unlikely the problem will be resolved by switching themes. To test this, temporarily change to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Nineteen then go to AppearanceWidgets, insert the widget into a theme widget area and see if the issue persists. If the issue persists then it’s unlikely related to your theme. If possible contact the widget author for assistance.

    Hi, Andrew,

    I discovered the cause of the issue. The widget in question was a part of the theme, in includes->widgets folder. The widget template has the following codes;

    ‘orderby’ => ‘title’,
    ‘order’ => ‘desc’,

    That is why the products were displayed in the order of product name (desc) – actually I did not notice the order was by title, though. Anyway, I overrode the above codes to;

    ‘order’ => $order,

    And the menu displays in the same order of WooCommerce Shop page. But anyway, I think the theme is way too old, and I am thinking about deploying something better because the current theme’s checkout page layout in mobile mode does not look good.

    Thanks again for your support. BTW, I will continue using your Page Builder – it is very cool tool.
