Problems with strange font kerning – circle icon

Hi…I’m having a bit of a problem. Here’s the temporary site:

I absolutely love the Vantage theme. It’s been great so far and I’m looking forward to finishing the site with a store, etc. The only problem I’m having is that the text underneath the two circle icons on the home page rise up and down (in particular the words that read “Who’s Your Farmer?” and “Aquaponics Resources”). Like I said they look great in Chrome but they look awful in explorer and comodo. I’m not sure how to fix this. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it.

I don’t code but if you have any CSS that I can use that would be great. Maybe I need another font? Is it a conflict with a plug-in? I’ve tried deactivating all of the plug-ins but this doesn’t seem to be the problem (unless I’ve missed something).

    Hi SweetBeePixels

    Glad to hear your project has been coming along.

    If possible please send through a link to a screenshot of the challenge and we’ll do our best to sort the problem out.

    What version of IE are you testing on?

    Good morning, Andrew. It’s IE 10. Here’s a link to the screenshot with the text circled. It’s not as obvious when you do a screenshot but you can still see the rise.

    It looks like your font isn’t being loaded on that machine. Insert the following under Appearance > Custom CSS:

    body, button, input, select, textarea {
    font-family: 'Actor', sans-serif;
    }

    Replace sans-serif with whatever font you want to be used as the fall-back. You can just try it as is.

    I tried the CSS code and it doesn’t seem to be working. It looks the same.

    Hi, Andrew. Any other suggestions?

    Try adding !important:

    body, button, input, select, textarea {
    font-family: 'Actor', sans-serif !important;
    }

    However it looks like you changed the second font to Arimo. Is that a Google font? If so it’ll need to be imported. The idea with the fall-back fonts is that they are default fonts, on all computers.

    Good morning, Andrew. I did change the font but went back to sans-serif. It still didn’t work. However, I went ahead and just removed the titles and made them the “more text”. For some reason the “more text” works better and doesn’t have the issue of rising up and down. I think this will work just fine. Thanks for your help!

    Glad to hear you found a solution that works. Let us know if you want to re-look at this in the future.

    All the best.
