Problems with default template for pages

All of a sudden, my pages look strange! The now show up in text-format, and only with some content. They are normally full of photos, links and formatted text. They do however work when I choose another template than ‘default’ (full width ex.) but I do want them to work with the default template. The blog looks normal.

Any idea?

Example: http://stutterieken.no/hester/

(I tried disabling all plugins, but no change. I have also tried a completely different theme, and then everything works.)

    Hi

What was previously on this page? Was it a blog or were you running a Post Loop widget via Page Builder. I’m struggling to see from the page source.

Head to Settings > Reading and ensure that you haven’t perhaps set this page as your Blog page. That would override the Default page template.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

I did check the settings you mentioned, but couldn’t find anything wrong.

This error happens on all of the site’s pages – not just the one I referred to as an example.

The example page normally looks like this: http://stutterieken.no/hester/ (I I have now changed template to full width to make it look normal, but I would really like to keep the sidebar (as is shown with default template).

I also discovered that the search button is no longer functional.

I will gladly give you a login to the page if that helps.

Please send through a set of temporary login details to support@siteorigin. com and I’ll take a look. Thanks.

I tried sending you login details in several emails (in addition to the email sent from WordPress with the details – have you gotten that? Maybe in the junk folder?) but I only get an error.

Thanks. Given our email load it’s unfortunately really hard to try link up automated login details with threads or email tickets. Try sending them again via WordPress and I’ll keep a look out with this thread in mind.

    Done. :)

Ok I’m in. I can’t see what’s causing these problems right away.

Have any themes files ever been modified via Appearance > Editor? As long as none have you can safely re-install, this would be the next step. Here is how:

    https://siteorigin.com/basics/updating-theme-from-zip/

You’d need to download the premium ZIP file using the link in your order email.

When this is resolved consider using the Jetpack Carousel instead of Colorbox, I think I’m seeing an issue with images loading there.

I tried re-installing. However, I am using a child theme. Could that be of any help in understanding this?

Otherwise the next step would be to go back to a backup from a time I know it all worked.

Please try reverting to the parent theme and then re-checking the challenges being faced.

Hi! For some reason the page.php had disappeared from the child item folder. Now it works beautifully. Such a silly mistake, but I am quite new to child items and I don’t know why it was missing.

However, I still have issues with the news slider (the arrows do not work) and the search field is not working either – which files should I check?

  12. Andrew Misplon Staff 11 years, 6 months ago

Are the two remaining issues resolved when you revert to the parent them? If so, it’s very hard to say what in the child theme is causing those problems.

  13. sommermuffin 11 years, 6 months ago

Yes, they are. Not sure which files in the child theme I miss..?

  14. Andrew Misplon Staff 11 years, 6 months ago

Please can you email me your child theme in a ZIP folder and I’ll take a look.

I figured it out. Thank you for your patience!

    That’s great news. Nicely done.
