Problems with Child Theme

By itds, 10 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 10 years ago.

I am trying to start a child theme for Vantage Premium and I’m getting the message:
Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
Name Description
Interstate Driving The parent theme is missing. Please install the “Vantage Premium” parent theme.

The actual path to the parent theme stylesheet is:
http://www.i4image.com/demo4/wp-content/themes/vantage/style.css

The stylesheet for the child theme is:
/*
Theme Name: Interstate Driving
Description: Child Theme for Vantage Premium
Author: Site Origin
Author URI: https://siteorigin.com/
Template: Vantage Premium
Version: 2.1.9
*/

@import url(“../vantage/style.css”);

/* =Theme customization starts here
——————————————————- */

Any help is appreciated.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Almost there, just change “Template” to:

    vantage

    Hi, I Work Here

    For reference purposes, here is a quick child theme style.css:

    /*
     Theme Name:   Vantage Child
     Author:       SiteOrgin
     Template:     vantage
     Version:      1.0.0
    */

    @import url("../vantage/style.css");

    I have purchased the premium theme for another website and created a child theme for it which has worked great. I am trying to use it for a different site and the child theme is not working. It says I need to install Vantage…when I go to do that, it says it’s already installed. Am I supposed to purchase the premium theme again for the new site?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi tkanotz

    Each new premium instance of Vantage does require a new upgrade/order number. We offer a $50 multi-site license for our big bulk users.

    However I don’t think your problem has to do with that yet. The best thing to do is first install the parent theme and then install your child theme. Make sure your child theme has a differently named theme folder and use my stylesheet example from above.

    For further queries on this please open a new support thread and I’ll jump in there.

    Thanks.
