Hi,
I’d like to have a post (incl. picture an whole text) on my home page. How can I do this. I can only put all my posts on one site. I’ll only want one post on my home page under the carussel.
What is the trick?

Thanks & Regards
Rodja

    Hi Rodja

    Try this, head to Appearance > Home Page and insert a Post Loop widget. Within the Post Loop widgets set Posts Per Page to 1.

    Let us know how that goes.

    If you want to control which category the post comes from, enter an argument into the Additional field of the widget as follows:

    cat=x

    Where x is the category ID you want to filter. You can get the category ID by going to Posts > Categories and clicking on a category, then check the URL, the ID will be in there.

    I’m not quite sure why that’s the case. Can you please send me a set of temporary login details – [email protected]. I’ll take a look shortly. Please include a link to this thread in your email. Thanks.

    I think the challenge here might be using two post loop widgets on a single page. Would you mind setting the post manually:

    p=134

    Where 134 is the post ID. Take a look and let me know if that works.

    Sorry, I don’t get it. I insert the “Text-Widget” and put the link in like “http://www…”. But only the Text is shown. Sorry, I’m no developer.

    So to confirm, when I last messaged there was only one post displaying in the Post Loop widget. How I did that was to enter the post ID of the post I wanted to display into the Additional field of that widget.

    1. Go to Posts and click on the post you want displayed on the home page page.
    2. Look at the url, there is a number in there, that’s post ID.
    3. Go to Appearance > Home and insert a Post Loop widget.
    4. Enter an argument into the Additional field of that widget as follows:

    p=134

    Where 134 is the ID of the post you want to display on the home page.

    I would like to have two post pages. One an author’s blog and another to post tips for newbie photographers. Can I use something similar to what you have suggested for Rodja? I would have two categories of posts. This is no problem for posts since the post setup page has the ability to set a category for the post. I just can’t see a way to set category on a page.
