Post Loop widget query not working without selecting some Taxonomies

I’m trying to figure out how the Post Loop widget exactly works.

For example:

I want to show 1 page item and 1 post item in this loop. I have selected ‘All’ in Post type, and two of it’s ID’s “61519,56030” in “Post in” and selected no Taxonomy.

Without selecting any Taxonomies, it will show ALL posts instead of those two, allthough the red counter says my Query holds two items.

As soon as I select some Taxonomies, the loop will show any posts that would be in those selected Taxonomies. But a page has no Taxonomy like a category for example, right?

Is this a bug (because the red counter suggests my query hold two items like I want it to), or does that “Post in” needs a Taxonomy anyhow?

Any clarification would be awesome!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Bureauklik,

Without selecting any Taxonomies, it will show ALL posts instead of those two, although the red counter says my Query holds two items.

This isn’t as intended, and unfortunately, I cannot replicate this issue.
Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

If that doesn’t help, would it be possible for you to send me an export for this widget? To do this open up the page with the widget and click Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.

But a page has no Taxonomy like a category for example, right?

Can you please elaborate on what you mean when you say that? Are you expecting a specific category reference on the frontend? If so, that’s dependent on how the theme you’re using handles their template as we make use of the templates provided by the theme and if the theme doesn’t reference what category is present, we can’t change that.

By the way, as you’re a premium user, you’re entitled to priority email support. If you would like to make use of that, please follow the instructions found on your Page: Dashboard (please refer to the support tab). Please reference this thread and include your SiteOrigin order key in the email.

For anyone looking in to this: the so called red counter does not count correctly when the Sticky setting is on Default. This is now a known issue and will be fixed within the next few updates.
